Hi

Just wanted some advice really.  My 18 month old Labrador is about 4 - 6 weeks late for her second heat.  Her last heat was mid July last year and she will have been 11 months.  Her sencond heat should have been mid January.  Obviously we are now at the end of February.  Is anything to be concerned about?  Shes absolutely fine in herself.  I keep checking her "bits" to see if I can see any change in size but everything still the same.

Thanks

Bitches can quite commonly have seasons longer than 6 months apart.  Anything up to a year would not be considered abnormal.

Thanks Isabel will keep an eye on things....

A 6-month gap between seasons is only a rough guideline. A gap of anything between 5 months and 10 months wouldn't be unusual.

I have had bitches be several months late, especially when you want to mate them, or wanted them to have it over with they come smack in when you have entered a batch of shows :D

Its very inconsiderate of them brainless:-)  Im still trying to decide when the best time to spey her.  We always said we'd let her have 2 seasons and see how we cope when she is in heat.  Thanks

Indeed, for the past 3 years my Ripley have been bang on finishing a fortnight or so before Crufts. This year she hasn't started yet, so what's the betting she will come in any day now and miss Crufts?!! I keep telling her she'll have to wait another 2 weeks now please.......

My young bitch goes 10 or 11 months between seasons - it's perfectly normal.

The only thing that bugs me is that she's coming in now, by all the signs she should actually start bleeding within the next week.

I'm afraid it's bye bye Crufts
