This is forwarded with permission: Please be aware of this dispicable scam in light of the DDA Amenesty
Please post far and wide to avoid any other person falling foul of these people  :(

OK , I have read this on another site, someone who owns a Douge De Bourdeaux (6mths old ) I think, recently has a police officer call round to her home, to inform her , some one has made a complaint, to say she has a "Pit Bull Type " dog,  and they (the police need to assess the dog) to see if it comes under the DDA act, the woman said she is not a pit, but a DDB as you can clearly see, and we have her pappers to prove it. the police officer , kept on about it being a dangerous dog, and said they will be back in a few days to collect the dog, and take it for assesment.

LUCKILY , the lady has the presence of mind to post this on the forum, to see if anyone can help her as she was beside herself with worry. any way to cut a long story short, she was advized to go to the police station, with her dogs pedigree before they came to collect her, and ask to see some one in a senoir position.

THE POLICE KNEW NOTHING ABOUT IT..............NO RECORD OF THE INCIDENT AT ALL.

After some investigating, it turns out she is not the first to be targeted . some other poor soul, phoned the Police station, to see when they could come and pick their dog up (a young Boxer bitch) , and off couse the police new nothing about the situation, no dog been impounderd.

so it looks like someone out their is posing as a policeman/woman, conning people into thinking they have the right to impound their dogs.

this just does not bare thinking about, as with all the hysteria that is going on at the moment with the DDA , and dogs being confiscated , some low life has crept out of the woodwork to take advantage of the situation.

I think this matter has now been taken up by the police , so be on your guard of any suspicious poeple asking questions.

God knows what has happened to the Boxer, her owners must be distraught, thinking they handed her over to what they though were the police.
