My GP's surgery has just gone online for repeat prescriptions

I got a form from the reception with all my information & the site details to register on & got home went online & registered

I've just ordered my repeat meds, it has the facility to check the progress of the request

This is the site Repeat Medication Site

Ours has been running a similar scheme for some time :).  Unfortunately they still run an antiquated system of only being able to collect from 12.20 to 2 pm

Yes, our GP's run a similar system, it's so much easier - well, if you have internet access :P

Yep ours do the same, and if you tick a box, the local chemist put the prescription up ready for collection.  I also have a repeat ordered for the 20th of every month, Insulin, syringes etc. it's a lot less hastle.

That's good :)  The 'corner' chemist has actually moved into the surgery now so might suggest this next time I am down there.

I used the one at my surgery for the first time this week and what a simple system.  All I need now is for the pharmacy to relocate to the GP surgery and I'm laughing.  The GP surgery will even send the prescription to a pharmacy of your choice which is great.

Our practice owns the pharmacy which is next door & they deliver the meds to our village shop !

Here I have the option to order via text message!  I can then collect from the chemist just up the road.  The only downside is paying £6+ for charges but every few months or so I do get a 'season ticket' then order all the things I need in one go to make it worth while.

Our surgery has done this for a while now.  It is very convenient and you can have it sent to your pharmacy.  You can book an appointment online too, great if you want a Monday morning one, just do it on Sunday and beat the rest trying to get through on Monday.

Even when you arrive at the surgery for your appointment there is no more queues at reception, just book in with an easy touch screen.

The chemist automatically does mums prescription.
Only problem is, due to the tyoe of medication she is obn, she doest need it all every month!!!!
And tends to get a backlog every so often.
Last week mum got a phone call wondering if she was ok as they had 2 months scripts for her!!!!
They did restock one month and I picjked the other up.
Online sounds so much easier!!!!

What you dont get the opld hag on reception that insists on asking what is wrong with you and then proceeds in repeating it VERY loudly to the receptionist next to her just so everyone can here :eek::eek::eek::eek:
We will be seeing a computer  doctor soon. :( :( :(

My Drs has had the touch screen thingy for a while but never heard of the on-line system til just now, been on and checked their website and yes we can do that as well.  Not the same surgery as you by any chance??!! :D :D

Our Dr's also has the option to order repeats online & you can choose to collect from the surgery or arrange for it to go to the pharmacy of choice.  When I put my last repeat in, I didn't manage to get to the chemist when I knew it would be ready but wasn't too worried as had enough tablets to manage a couple more days, the next day, knock at the door & the pharmacy delivered my tablets as they were concerned I'd not been in & would be running out of tablets   Must admit I was very impressed but then when I first came out of hospital as they were great & delivered my tablets to me & all this for free :D  Our GP practice also has the touch screen for booking in, much quicker

We are still the the dark ages, we have to take our renewals
to the GP's surgery and pop them in the box and then wait 48 hrs
to collect them...and then sometimes when you do try and collect
oooh sorry we don't have it in stock :eek:
No phone call no nothing advising you of a problem and just a prescription to try and find it at another
chemist..arrgghhhh.

We aren't allowed to phone in our medication repeats either (they say to much
risk for mistakes to be made)...

Would love to be able to order repeat prescriptions via internet!
