I am asking this question on behalf of my friend who has no computer.
She has 3 dogs, 2 of which she is currently showing but the 3rd is a puppy of 4 mths old. She recently bought this puppy to show as well. Her problem is, that she hs no one at home on show days to look after the puppy. Can she take the puppy along with her other 2 dogs, keeping her in the crate with the other 2, rather than leave her at home, alone.
I know that pups have to be 6 mths old to be shown, but what about puppies that can't be left home alone. Surely, it is better for the pup to accompany her to the shows and get used to the hustle and bustle of show days?

For breed, sub group and group shows she can be enterd NFC.  Otherwise legally she should be in the show.

Your friend could always sneek her in and leave her in a coverd cage though?

Has the rule not changed that puppies over 4 months old can be entered in NFC at shows?  I agree it's good socialisation for them as there's lots of dogs of all shapes & sizes and likewise people too!

At many championship shows there is a tent for unentered dogs, and puppies under 6 months can be left there for a donation to the charity that runs it - the dogs are benched in the same way as inside the show, and your friend can keep popping back. At open shows, it depends on the venue - some have no way at all of knowing which dogs are entered as no passes are provided and as long as its not a tiny hall, I doubt anyone would notice.

Always best to check first.  Even if they cant be seen when in their cage, you have to get them in and out of the venue and I am guessing at 4 months a puppy in most breeds looks quite immature.  I do like to try and get them in at 5 months to get them used to the atmosphere.  We are lucky with our local shows and we can park right outside the hall so new puppies get used to the sounds and smells before they even go in.

A word to the wise - I have seen quite a few young puppies at shows with no problems but if someone takes a dislike to you, yes it does happen, they may report you for having underage dogs in the show area.  I don't know what happens after that but it is very embarrassing having people come up to you and quiz you.

My friend wants to leave a dog in tent for unentered dogs at a forthcoming show - does this have to be booked with entry, or do you just take the dog there on the day?  Presume you must be given a removal pass for end of the day?   Hilda

Check first with the secretary that there is an unentered tent at the show, or it may say in the schedule.  The unentered tent is usually outside the showground so you do not need to book in advance and will not need a removal pass.  The exception is The Stafford Showground where passes are checked at the gate as you leave in the car, so you will need to get a pass from the secretary on the day to get the dog out. 

I am assuming we are talking about a General Championship show, there will not be any tents at open shows.

When we have left ours in the unentered tent we just took them along on the day.  They give you a pass/ticket when you leave your dog, they have your mobile number to call you if your dog gets distressed.  Only the pass/ticket holder can take the unentered dog from the tent.  They have always been great with ours.

It may be worth your friend checking with the show secretary in case the unentered tent is usually heavily subscribed and in that case they may take bookings.  I have always found them very helpful.

Tell your friend to check with the secretary.  They may take NFC entries for dogs under six months but, to be honest, I doubt it.  If she can't find anyone to sit with the pup at home then I'm afraid she'll just have to not show for a couple of months.

i brought boo to the munster circuit with me he was 5 months old and i wanted to bring him so that he would get used to all the different noises etc
