I am researching breeds for my next dog and was wondering if anyone had any experience of Norfolk Terriers. I currently own two standard poodles, both male and neutered and was wondering if a Norfolk Terrier would fit in with them. I would not be getting one until at least summer 2008 possibly even 2009. How much exercise can they cope with? Obviously when the pup was young it would be on restricted exercise but at the moment my boys get at least one hours off the lead exercise and one hour on the lead exercise spread over two walks daily. They also have flyball practice every Monday night and agility practice every Thursday night. During the summer every weekend i go off in my caravan with the boys to flyball tournaments and may start doing some agility tournaments. In winter they go to hydrotherapy once a week to keep their fitness levels up. Would a Norfolk Terrier be able to keep up with the poodles? Any personal experiences or general observations would begreatly appreciated, I am planning on going to Discover Dogs to see them later in the year and speak to breeders but would like some info before then. How much grooming do they need? Do they need hand stripping? If they do that is fine i am willing to learn how to do it as i clip my poodles myself so would be more than willing to learn how to hand strip if necessary. Sorry for all the questions but i am really interested in this breed and would love to know more about them.

Don't know about the rest of it, but although the correct method of grooming is to handstrip, you can clip them if you don't want to show them. Stripping is better for most terrier coats though, it's not hard to do. :-)
hand stripping isnt hard to actually do- but kills your hand after an or two and can take a lot of patience from the dog!

No it's not too hard at all on your hands if you are wearing the disposable latex gloves that are available any where. The hair just sticks to them! That is speaking as a novice on first experience though, I did start with my bare hands and was advised to try the gloves, magic.
Karen :-)
