When my dog was on a different complete food to the one she's on now I can't say I noticed any difference in quantity but the smell ((((retch, retch))))

I feed barf and forget how much dogs on a complete food poo (not to mention how much it stinks!). I did some voluntary work for the RSPCA and almost died of shock when I fist started, lol.

You could just about insert any cheap, filler, grain heavy food here and get the same results.... The more indigestable 'ingredients' a food contains, the more the dog poops. As they say "Crap in,crap out" :(

Trouble is some dogs do not suit small poos.  It makes them constipated and it does not facilitate the emptying of the anal sacs.  Better to choose a food that suits your dog :)

I think firmness plays a greater part in anal gland expression than volume, besides large volumunous stools are usually unfirm..  My dog used to have anal gland problems, but rmb's helped cure that, they didnt make her poops larger, but firmer, which did the trick. Grain based foods usually dont facilitate hard poops.

You are right, hard is not what is needed, which I have found to be the case with less fibre, it is bulk that is important.  There is no need for them to be unfirm, this has never been my experience with grain foods I suppose it depends if the food suits them, my dog's pick up without trace ;) but you are right bones do seem to do the trick too :)
