So, how's everyone doing?

I thought it would be nice to have a thread where we could all share our experiences (and I could pick everyone's brains as I don't know the first thing about being pregnant!).
- By Brunodog Date 15.02.07 14:53 UTC
Hi Earl, Im 31 weeks now, getting a bit fed up lol. Apparently im measuring 34 weeks and should expect a 9lber  or thereabouts, god help me lol. Cant wait til its all over now. Im having a girl. Do you know what youre having?
- By earl [fr] Date 15.02.07 15:05 UTC
Hi Michelle

Wow, 31 weeks!  How're you feeling?  I'm only 17 weeks and 31 weeks seems like a lifetime away lol.  It's been the longest 17 weeks of my life!  There's signs up all over the hospital I'm going to that you've not to ask, but I think it's a boy cos I saw a massive 'thing' in the scan.  Hubby said it was a leg, but I think otherwise lol.  Don't know if telling you the sex is different north / south of the border.

Im in Rotherham South Yorkshire, we asked the sex at our 20 weeks scan but the sonographer couldnt tell us because the baby had her legs crossed and tucked up. So we had a 4D scan and he told us she was a girl :D very happy as we already have a 10 yr old boy so are gonna have one of each :)

Im feeling ok thanks. I just cant breath a lot of the time because she is very high up still at the mo and her legs keep sticking in my ribs lol, I can feel that shes massive already. Cant wait to meet her though.

Have you had any morning sickness or anything? I was sick 3 times a day with my son all the way through but with this one ive not had any sickness. :)
- By justlou Date 15.02.07 16:33 UTC
Hi Michelle :) Have you finished work now? I'm glad everything's going okay :) My daughter was very high in my ribs, so i know what your going through X
- By Brunodog Date 15.02.07 19:20 UTC
Hiya Kerry, I have finished work now :) Thank god, no more smoke filled lungs hehe.
- By earl [fr] Date 15.02.07 17:01 UTC
In Glasgow you don't get a 20 week scan, only one at 12 weeks.  I fancied having a 4D scan, but OH doesn't want to know the sex.  I've had a couple of miscarriages so am a bit nervous about the whole thing.

No sickness or anything like that, in fact I don't even feel pregnant!
- By Brunodog Date 15.02.07 19:21 UTC
Simone you can have a 4D scan and ask not to be told the sex, they are amazing you should have one. Ive had a miscarriage before too so I know how scared youre feeling. Youre lucky not having any symptoms :)
- By Carolineckc Date 15.02.07 21:17 UTC
Hi,
I'm not pregnant, i have a 3month old girl and 4 year old boy but i'm jelous of all of you i love being pregnant!! anyway I wish you all the best of luck and remember, forget the house cleaning, just enjoy your baby..........well thats the best excuse i've ever herd lol
- By marguerite [gb] Date 15.02.07 21:44 UTC
We are in Ayrshire not far from Glasgow., my granddaughter had a scan at 12wks and one at 20 wks and another at 30wks. she is having a girl whereas my daughter got one at 12wks and one at 20wks dont know what she is having as babies legs were crossed.
- By Kash [gb] Date 15.02.07 21:56 UTC
I'm 27 weeks on Monday :-)  and I can safely say I HATE being pregnant :-)  I've been bleeding all the way through due to a massive haemorrage (Sp?) area, seconded by another *unknown* bleed thought to be something to do with my cervix.    As with Brunodog- I live in Rotherham, Sth Yorkshire and am thought to be having a boy!

My Sister who is also pregnant has just had some terrible news (she's 22 weeks) basically she has to end the pregnancy :-( so thoughts and prayers for her please because what she's going to go through is horrendous :-(

Also thoughts and prayers for the rest of us too for healthy, happy babies regardless of sex x

- By Brunodog Date 16.02.07 11:22 UTC
Didnt know you were pregnant Stacey! Thoughts and prayers to your sister, she must be going through a terrible time at the mo (((HUGS))).
- By Kash [gb] Date 16.02.07 13:51 UTC
I am Michelle and hating it :-o  You know how some people seem to really take it very well- still look great, feel great etc- I suppose the kind you'd give comments such as 'they're blooming' and 'pregnancy suits them', those kind of people- well I'm certainly not one of them :-(  The heart burn alone is enough to send me over the edge :-D (slightly OTT statement perhaps :-) ) I feel like I've been invaded by a little alien, my hair seems to be 10 times dirtier than before no matter what I do.  I really do think I am one of those who it really doesn't suit :-p

How's yours going?  Let me guess it suits you, and you're blooming :-p :-) :-D

Oh- and now that I know you're further on than me- you can add a touch of *green eyed monster* to the list of complaints above :-D

Stacey x
- By Brunodog Date 16.02.07 14:12 UTC
Well this is gonna make you happy :D I am hating it too  My bump is so big, my back hurts just washing the pots, i have to bend over to do them, pretty sight huh lol. My fingers keep swelling up and have had to take my wedding ring off. Im constantly outta  breath, even when i have a conversation with someone. I am just sooooooooooooo fed up honestly. Ive heard if u have bad heartburn, your baby is gonna have lotsa hair hehe, probably an old wives tale though. I feel so unattractive its unreal. My hair is loads drier too.

And hey, ive waited my turn as well lol. Ive always been envious of people who have been further on than me. Right now its going so slow. Im so bored ive even packed my hospital bag already lmao!
- By earl [fr] Date 16.02.07 14:25 UTC
Well, don't you two just make me feel loads better at having all this to look forward to! :D

Do the rest of the 40 weeks take so long as the beginning ones (if you know what I mean)?
- By Brunodog Date 16.02.07 14:44 UTC
The fastest for me Earl was between the 10-25 weeks mark, its dragged since then lol.
- By Kash [gb] Date 16.02.07 14:54 UTC
I'll let you off the hook then Michelle since you think it's as cr*p as I do :-)  Nice to know I'm not alone ;-)  Strange though how so many think that you can't say it's awful being pregnant, it seems to be very wrong in the eyes of soooo many- all people keep saying is how natural it is and it's one of natures best things- they almost look like they want to throttle me for being the one to stand up and admit to disliking it :-)  Oh and I forgot to mention the raging hormones too in my earlier post- how have yours been?

Simone- we should think ourselves lucky- when you have Christmas *during* your pregnancy it seems to go faster (the pregnancy that is) than any other time I always think :-)  What are both your due dates?  Mine's 21st May.

Stacey x
- By earl [fr] Date 16.02.07 15:33 UTC
OMG that was it going faster?

My due date is 24 July - an eternity away at the moment lol.

I've always thought that when people say (not to me yet lol) that you're blooming through pregnancy and how well you're look, they're just being polite!
- By Brunodog Date 16.02.07 16:28 UTC
Im due 15th April though i think she will come earlier (secretly hoping) cos shes massive lol.
- By Kash [gb] Date 16.02.07 19:03 UTC
Come on Simone- We're almost in March now and you only have till July :-o  Besides you're only 8 weeks behind me and I've only got 13 weeks to go :-D  Secretly hoping I'm early too- nothing to do with size just fed up already :-p  Michelle- how big was your Son if you don't mind me asking?  *Eyes watering at the thought of a 9lber* :-D

Stacey x
- By Brunodog Date 16.02.07 21:10 UTC
He was 7lb 5oz. But he has a different Dad and according to the midwife that can make a difference. Probably due to the fact that my now husband is 6ft 2". My Father in law weighed 14lbs at birth, oh god help me if it skips a generation
- By Kash [gb] Date 16.02.07 22:44 UTC
My friends 1st baby was 7lb 20z then to a different Dad she's had a 5lb 4oz and a 5lb 13oz.  One of my other friends has an army fella and he's tall like your OH- she had 8lb 8oz :-)  14lbs- you can't even begin to imagine it can you :-o :-)  A nice smallish 7lber will do me fine ;-)

- By LJS Date 17.02.07 22:13 UTC
Stacey Flo was 9lb 2 1/2 ozs and blimey it was painful

36 hours in labour

I had the sink plunger and then the forceps to get her out

Why is that women are the only beings that can give conceive and give birth :confused::rolleyes: :D
- By kerrib Date 17.02.07 22:25 UTC
I had the sink plunger and then the forceps to get her out

Sorry Lucy but LMAO!!!

I cant say too much as my twins were 7lb 10oz  and 7 lb, my other daughter was 9lb and my son 8 lb 9!!!  Yikes!  The first twin (the heavier one) was born by as you so politely put it the "sink plunger" with the second twin by CS.  The other two were normal births. NEVER AGAIN!! :D :D
- By LJS Date 17.02.07 22:30 UTC
I really shouted out loud ' You are not putting that sink plunger up my *****'

I was exhausted and sense of humour had gone and the pratt who stuck the the plunger in my face onlymade we think I know where I want to shove that  :p :p

Instead guess where it went
- By Lea Date 17.02.07 22:35 UTC
Ha ha ha ha ha ha And considering how tall and chunky I am I had small babies!!!!
James 7lb 14 1/2 oz Natural birth no stitches
Sam 7lb 13oz, 2 weeks over due, undiagnosed footling breach straight in for emergancy C section!!!! And lived up to his awkward birth ever since!!!!
Lea :)
- By kerrib Date 17.02.07 22:35 UTC
LOL!!  Once Sophia was born (first one), Eloise decided it wasn't time for her and the little minx wriggled back so they tried the plunger and it came unstuck ....... straight into the face of the Doc! :D :D :D  Her face said it all!  It was at that point she decided a CS was needed!  If it didn't hurt so bl**dy much I would have laughed! :p
- By Kash [gb] Date 17.02.07 22:33 UTC
Lucy- you don't scare me- I've decided I'm going to have a 7lb baby at tea time on the Wednesday before before he's due and be back at home by the following morning, the birth is going to go extremely quick (I'm going to start at 3pm and be holding him by 6.30pm) - he's just going to fall out unassisted, with some mild period like cramping- I will retain my dignity and behave very gracefully and look beautiful all the way through :-p  No *sink plunger here* :-D

What are my chances :-o :-D

Stacey x
- By kerrib Date 17.02.07 22:36 UTC
If you want it really quick they could always go for the cut! LOL
- By Lea Date 17.02.07 22:37 UTC
Stacey, Please read 1 if you want the truth, Please bypass 1 and read 2 if you want to live in cloud cookoo land
1 - I hate to dissapoint you , your chances are the big fat 0!!!!!!!

2- you will have the birth of your dreams, the same as everysingle other women given birth has :D :D :D ;D :D
Lea :)
- By Kash [gb] Date 17.02.07 22:42 UTC
Lea!- Everyone's got to have a dream :-D

When I had Shannon (6lb 13oz) I had stitches, was cut up to my armpits and had a truely awful time of it   When I had Kane (7lb 2oz) things went a lot quicker and I managed to stay *relatively* calm- breathing when I was supposed to, pushing when I was supposed to etc- I only *grazed* with him!  TBH though I found it more painful afterwards *grazing* since it was an open wound :-D

Stacey x
- By earl [gb] Date 17.02.07 16:52 UTC
OMG 14lbs!  Makes your eyes water!!!
- By Dogz Date 18.02.07 10:41 UTC
My biggest was 10lb 14 1/2oz, not even a stitch, so don't any of you pregnant girls worry! Sure it's called labour coz it's hard work but most of us do again.....
Karen;-)
- By snow queen [gb] Date 20.02.07 14:16 UTC
My daughter had a private scan, they are excellent you can see there faces.
Just like a photo. In England if you ask they have to tell you.
- By mollymoto [gb] Date 18.02.07 20:56 UTC
Hi Earl
I'm 25 weeks and after a horrible first 4 months plaged with self doubt, morning sickness, no energy, being ill ALL the time with anything and everything i now feel great. I actually have stopped weighing myself as i really don't want to know how much i have gained. They won't tell us what we're having so it'll be a surprise. My only concern now its that theres a HUGE chance of a c section and we haven't actually done any baby shopping yet? I'm a first timer and have 3 friends who have just had theirs each with very different experiences so i'm going to play it by ear and probably mess it up as i do it but not to worry.
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 18.02.07 21:43 UTC
Well boladeras is keeping quiet, I know that he's due to be a daddy shortly.  Hope all's going well with Xandra Alex?
- By mollymoto [gb] Date 19.02.07 07:24 UTC
Opps got on the scales ..... needless to say will be avoiding cakes and chocs for a few weeks!

What is a healthy weight gain???
- By Carla Date 19.02.07 09:11 UTC
Rule number 1 when pregnant - throw away the scales.

Rule number 2 - try to breastfeed. I'd lost all my baby weight in 3 weeks after the birth :D
- By earl [fr] Date 19.02.07 11:33 UTC
I like Carla and Karen's advice best lol.

When do you start to actually feel pregnant?  I think I'd worry less if I felt differently.
- By mollymoto [gb] Date 19.02.07 13:48 UTC
Will throw scales away tonight! As for feeling pregnant, well at 6 months i'm beginning to feel a little frumpy and can feel the differene when it comes to walking up stairs. Oh yes and theres the spots!
- By earl [fr] Date 19.02.07 14:04 UTC
Oooh I've had spots.  When did you start needing other clothes?  I thought I was doing ok, but my mum said my jeans were a bit on the tight side.
- By Brunodog Date 19.02.07 16:10 UTC
I started needing bigger clothes when i was 10 weeks  I remember it, we were in Wales on a holiday and had to go into Mothercare to buy some maternity jeans lol. I seemed to have put on more weight in the early days, and now its slowing down. Ive put just over 2 stone on lmao, oops. But its all baby tee hee because ive been eating healthier, yes i have, honest!!
- By mollymoto [gb] Date 19.02.07 18:47 UTC
Haven't managed the  2 stone mark yet brunodog but getting there. Am also enjoying the healthy eating ...... just don't tell me that chips and choc aren't healthy then i'll be fine. In the first 3 months chips were one of the few things that didn't make me sick lucky me
- By mollymoto [gb] Date 19.02.07 18:41 UTC
At christmas i had to get new things as others were snug. So i was nearly 4 months. Its only been this past week that my bump has decided to protude greatly ... baby having a growth spurt me thinks. My problem has been getting nice maternity wear at a reasonable price. We have 3 shops that do it here and there is such a small choice :( not aa happy bunny.

I had spots  at first then they cleared up but now they are back and REALLY BIG! Always nice to see a teacher completing with her students for whos got the most and biggest spots :).

Have you felt anything yet? My darling thinks its play time at 11pm when mummy needs sleep. And theres the 4-5 times in the night were you just have to pee!! Shouldn't now be the time when i actually get sleep so i'm not sleep depreived when it arrives !?!
- By Carla Date 19.02.07 18:46 UTC

>Shouldn't now be the time when i actually get sleep so i'm not sleep depreived when it arrives

No, now is the time you get used to having hardly any sleep so that when baby arrives and you get NO sleep you are almost used to it :D
- By mollymoto [gb] Date 19.02.07 18:48 UTC
Managed to avoid cakes til 11.30 then had a flapjack/ Oh i'm such a bad mummy to be :(
- By earl [gb] Date 19.02.07 21:59 UTC
Molly, you said about not having many maternity shops where you are.  I just ordered trousers from http://www.funmum.com a friend told me that they were really good when she ordered from them last year.  Maybe worth having a look.
- By Kash [gb] Date 20.02.07 08:19 UTC
Don't worry Molly- I'll be up with you at 11pm - mine thinks it's time to get up at 11pm too:-o :-D  I'm 27 weeks now (as of yesterday).

Stacey x
- By Paula20380 [us] Date 20.02.07 09:41 UTC
When I was pregnant this place was good for maternity clothes....http://www.bloomingmarvellous.co.uk (hope link works??!!) not sure what it is like now. But they also did lovely baby clothes and toys too.

My DD was 7lb 4oz and I was only in labour 2 and a half hours. Didn't put any weight on until I was 7 months pregnant(was still in my size 12 jeans) and she slept through from 4 weeks old. Don't want to tempt fate by having another lol!!! So I'm sticking with this one after the easy time I had!!:-D
