Does anyone know the mimimum age that a puppy would be allowed to fly over to england, or do individule airlines have there own limits.

OR

With pet passport doe's the same vet who has done the whole paperwork and test have to be final person to do the tick and flee treatment and sign the puppy off as passport completed.

Had a quick look at the DEFRA guidlines and I cannot find a mimnimum age for flying ( but I only have the info for the Pet passport Scheme and this would mean a pup would be around 9 months old before being eligible for entry) - I would phone their help line on 0870 2411710 if your pup is not coming in under this scheme.

It does not need to be the same vet that administers the Tick/tapeworm/flea treatment although it makes it easier if it is !.

It would be nearer 10 months in age, rabies vax done at 13 weeks, 28 days before the titre test & then 6 calendar months after the successful test making 10 months

However this may change in a few years time to come in line with other EU countries which is from the date of the positive titre test, which would then make it 4 months

We had our boy come in at 9 1/2 weeks in 2002, adn I have had people fly a pup with them in te cabin at 8 weeks.

Yes of course he had to do 6 months quarantine, and I think was just before the Pet travel scheme.

It could only come in at that age if it was going into quarantine, unless it was flying in from Ireland.

Definitely not into the UK from Europe or anywhere else at that age other than from Ireland!  9 to 10 months is the earliest but as others have said hopefully soon it will be a lot less.

Where is the puppy coming from, Britney, and is it coming under the Pet Passport scheme?

She is coming from the Chez Republic, not on Pet Passport I am afraid it was not possible.  I will look into the puppy traveling with me, I thought that would not be allowed. It will be with Britnish Airways or Chech Airlines.

We are having trouble with BA with a TM coming from Seattle. as they say they can only accept the dog through an IPATA agent, and we have trouble to find one that covered Seattle

Unfortunately to bring a dog into UK it has to come as Cargo (though nothing to stop you being on same flight) ad you will not be able to seethe puppy until it is in quarantine kennels and passed by the Vet.

I flew to Finland in October to Helsinki as excess baggage and the Local flights too, picking the dog up in baggage along with my bags (though it didn't go on the conveyor :( ), but coming home she had to go Cargo on the approved route as we were using Pet Passport.

Without Pet Passport you can use whichever route best suits and if i is to an airport without Quarantine kennels they a Quarantine kennels carrier will have to pick the puppy up.

Your best bet i to contact the Quarantine kennels you will use and they will handle everything for you.

They have to come as Cargo (always have done when flying) yes, and that has to be arranged with the cargo people where the dog is coming from, but you do not need to use an Agent if you are also travelling.
