Topic Dog Boards / General / Blue/isabella dobermann breeders?

Just wondering if anyone knew of breeders who sometimes have these colours available?

I'm not after a pup, but I've noticed a few blues and one or two isabellas have popped up on freead listings recently - but aside from one (really not good IMO) breeder, I've not found one who gets these colours in their litters, deliberate or otherwise.  I'm just curious as to where they've come from - Remy came from a litter born to a blue dam and isabella sire (terrible combo, which is why I call him baldy-bum :D), but their owners couldn't remember offhand where they came from - I must ring them back to get the affix, I tried once before but the papers were apparently lost in the chaos surrounding a kitchen rebuild.  They said they thought the breeder might be from Broomfield in Kent but I've not found anything.

I'd love to get an isabella bitch - but if I buy a pup again she'd have to be from a very good breeder, Remy's coat is too bad for me to go the "accidental litter" route again (not that I believed that!).

Incidentally, if anyone has heard of Lowfields dobes (based in Lincoln) I'd be interested - Kerioak's pedigree database is still down and I'd like to look into Soli's background, but the net isn't helping at all and they aren't on CD.

Somewhere on this forum are several very long and interesting debates about these dobes. Well worth a search if you have time and a must if you are considering owning one.

I used to have a beautiful blue Doberman that I bred with an Isabella and had a lovely litter of Blues and Isabellas.
They all came from the Roanoke Line (Jimmy Richardson)  I havn't unfortunatly got his contact details now but I am sure if you done a search you could find out more.

Thanks bevd.  Do you mind if I ask why you bred two dilutes?  Don't take it the wrong way, it's just that usually no dilute would be bred from due to coat issues and certainly not two together - Remy has the same breeding as your litter, that's partly why Remy is almost bald at only 3yrs old.  Granted his parents didn't have brilliant coats either.  Please don't take offense, I'm just curious!

I've PM'd you with Jimmy Richardson's details.

Who are Lowfields dobes in Lincoln???  Never heard of them and I am in Lincoln. Id be interested to know more about them.

Why being breed rainbow litters is beyond me, oh yes I forgot for the novelty factor and money :mad:I dont think youd find an Isabella from a good breeder.

Why hasnt anyone mentioned health testing???

Jakarta, I am just passing on information and don't want to get into an argument, but I think you will find Jimmy Richardson IS a a well known and respected breeder. I personally wouldn't go near a fawn or blue with a barge pole, but we all have our own preferences. With regard to health testing I think that goes without saying, and Nikita is well aware of Dobe health issues.

No health testing doesnt go without saying as you will find some 'top' breeders do NOT health test.  I was not saying JR breeds rainbow (i include white in that) - you have mis read.  I was aiming my post at Rainbow litters (all five colours).

I have no interest in commercial breeders or those who dont health test - I dont want to get into an argument either just stating my view.  :-)

Perhaps I worded my post slightly wrong. What I actually meant was that health testing IS important, but Nikita already knows that, so that is what goes without saying. I, for one, believe health checks are vital.

I'm not saying I'd go looking for someone who purposely breeds blues or isabellas - I wouldn't.  But I do know they crop up in litters from time to time, and I'd not have a problem with that - assuming the parents had all the relevant tests, as you mentioned.  I've learnt enough trying to deal with Remy's fur (and making coats!) to know not to go looking for a pup.

I don't know who Lowfields are - that's why I was asking, I hoped someone had heard of them.  Apparently the breeder is a woman called Sue Bennett, and she keeps one pup from every litter.  I'm assuming it's purely pet breeding though.  I'm looking for Soli's pedigree now - when I've got it I can post some of the names.  No well known breeders to my recollection though.

i have been out of dobes for 18 years now, but even in my day, Mr Richardson & the Roanoake dobes were highly thought of.
