Hi,
Haven't posted for a while (again! :D as things are hectic in my life at the mo!)  but just logged on and found my favourite subject posted!! Weight Watchers!!  yay

As many of you know I joined weight watchers 15 months ago (yes still going strong, every week without fail!)

I have so far lost nearly 7 stone!  Some weeks have been slow, some weeks have stayed the same but generally I am losing weight at a steady, healthy pace.  It sounds a bit cliche, but following the points plan has become a way of life.  I have always enjoyed the programme,  find it easy to follow, mostly easy to stick to... damn birthdays :D christmas. girly get togethers :D and above all it works.

I think Lindsay has got it spot on.

Wow Balibee welldone to you thats brilliant,
I reached target at Slimming World this week I,ve lost four stone three and a half pounds since end of March and I,m dead chuffed.
Yesterday went to cafe Thorntons for a target treat now I start the hard bit maintaining the weight loss:rolleyes:
But I can honestly say I,ve enjoyed Slimming World very much, i,ve enjoyed re-educating myself food wise making new recipes and trying all the different foods that keep me healthy and I really do feel comfortable that I can keep the weight of,
Most of all though I,ve met a really great group of men and women at my class we have such a laugh and really enjoy the social side of it I.,ve made a load of new freinds since joining SW. plus its somewhere I can go without the dogs following me:rolleyes::rolleyes:they are not amused about that.
I can,t diet without support and for people who do need help I can recomend SW.

Well done to you too for getting to goal.  I am pretty much there now!

People I know say, you have done so well, you don't need to go any more,  but I do need to go.

It's like a social noght for me :D (Sad I know!) I ahve made great friends and getting weighed every week keeps me on the straight and narrow!

I will be a weighht watcher for life and I know I will never be able to stop going to the meetings or it will be too easy for it to creep back on again.

I feel so fit now.  I started walking about a year or so ago, mainly training for a charity walk I took part in but Since completing the challenge (5 days walking the amalfi coast in Italy (Beautiful))  I have carried on and I walk for fitness and pleasure now.  I try to do about 20 miles a week in 2-3 stints, time permitting.  I never want to lose the feeling I have now.

Well done Balibee and pavlova, people need to be encouraged.  Not to have cynicism thrown at them on 'slimming clubs' effectiveness!  Oh, to live in that Ivory tower!

'if you met him comign down the street you'd probably want to cross to the other side'

Tell your brother if he walks anywhere near my street I'll come to WW with him (7 stone to lose - we could race)!  If he can walk down the street he's doing okay - and I admire him for being willing to go - wish him luck,

Maxine

Has anyone tried the GI plan? I'v been reading the book, and it sounds like simple healthy eating, so I wondered if anyone had tried it and what success you had?

I am not sure what the GI plan is but I have read a couple of books on GI foods and how to eat using them and have taken some of it on board.  It's closely aligned with the Food Agencies advice on diet anyway, whole meal products, reduced fats, good quantity of fruit and veg etc.  The main principle it appears to add in to that is to equalise the amount of carbohydrate, protein and vegetables on equal plate, balance being essential to achieve the effects on the digestion, release of insulin etc.  By equalise I mean the appearance of the quantity should be the same for instance a piece of protein, such as chicken breast should be about the size of your palm, if reducing a bit bigger if not, and the chosen carbs, rice for instance (brown of course ;)), should occupy about the same space on the place with vegetable taking up at least the same again.  It also aims to balance out the calories over the day so that all three main meals are equal which is the main change I made to my diet, increasing my breakfast greatly for instance.  My sister has used a plan from Ediets on Tescos web site to help her organise her diet and found it very effective.  Since doing it last year I notice her eating has stayed healthy, continuing with the same types of foods and looking very good for it.

i used to go do weight watchers years ago and hated the whole group thing. I've been doing that closerdiets for 3 weeks now, and have lost 11lbs. It seems to be a calorie controlled one (like the post above, brekkie lunch and tea have all got pretty much the same amount of calories in them), and super easy. All online too, so no embarassment in the group situation-although i suppose it makes it easier to lie about your progress! Its a lot cheaper than WW too-works out at £2.50 a week, and it even does your shopping list!! They're doing a free month trial as the mo, too. I don't suppose it works for everyone, but i really like it, and i'm loving the variety of food i'm eating. They veggie stuff is lovely, and you have a whopping plate full!
