hi all has any one used zydol from the  vet,s for there dog and if so how did they get on with it it,s a human painkiller but the vet,s do use it when dog,s can,t take other thing,s

Has it been prescribed by your vet?  I can't find it listed by NOAH, under Zydol or Tramadol, so not sure if it is licensed for animal use.  It's an opiate so not something you would want to get the dose wrong on either.

hi yes it was prescribed by the vet but it is for human,s i,m just not sure about it i,ve had to put him back on it because he is in so much pain but he is of his food and just not right again the vet said it can,t be the tramadol /zydol but i,m not so sureso i was just fishing to see if any one had used it:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I think tramadol is pretty well tolerated in humans.  He could be off his food if it is not dealing with his pain adequately.
What is the cause of his pain?

hi and thank,s he has got cranial cruciate ligament disease in both stifle,s and he has sprained one of them :rolleyes:

Belinda take him back to the vets as if he is so much pain then it is not right ;)

All I can suggest have you got him totally constrainted ? He needs to be on total bed rest which would help if he was in a cage ;) :)

tramadol is not registered for use in animals. A friend of mines lab is on it after a cruciate op but vet has said he uses it in all post op but only after letting the owner know it is not registered. Friend was more than happy to have it as it is supposed to be the best for pain relief.
