Topic Dog Boards / Health / bull terrier/fits can anyone help?
- By ashlee [gb] Date 07.02.07 19:08 UTC
I am posting on behalf of my friends who have an english bull terrier who has been taking a drug called epifin(not sure of spelling) but vets decided to take her off drug to see if the previous fits had been a one off.
Sadly today she has had three fits,so obvious that she needs to be kept on this drug, but her owners are worried about liver ,kidney damage, although recent blood tests show all is ok.
They have said that if quality of life means taking the drug no problem, they love this dog so much, and would do anything for her,so has anyone out there have any experience of this,or any advice that might be of any use to them?
Many thanks,
Ash.

One of my dogs is on this (Epiphren) and the vet wants to see him every 5 months for blood tests etc. Sometimes medication is the lesser of the two evils -it's not good in the long run but it will give a QUALITY life. I know that people use something called Milk Thistle to help the liver. I haven't looked at it recently but there used to be plenty of good info on  THIS website even though it is American in origin.
