One of my work colleuges asked me why one of her dogs would just walk up to the other and pee on him.

Charlie is a Jack Russell Terrier and Owen is a collie cross. They are roughly the same age about 7/8 years. My colleuge thinks that Owen is the top dog but it is Charlie who walked up to Owen an peed on him. This was in the house while Owen was lying down.

Im really curious as Ive not heard of this before.

Any ideas anyone???

It is marking behaviour.  I know many people who have to watch that theri male dogs do not pee on theri bitches when they squat to pee.  Seems to be Collies and Terriers.

yes, two male Roughs I had would pee on each other's head if one was sniffing a tree!

I have Large Munsterlanders. My male will pee on his mothers head, but not on the younger, unrelated bitch ;) Do you think he is telling his mum something :D

I have a labrador bitch aged 2 yrs who would pee on my lab x collies bed he was 13 yrs old. If he slept on the carpet she would pee on that too. My rotti used to sleep on a single bed and the labrador would get up and go to the toilet on that!!!  It used to drive me mad and she was not allowed in the rest of the house in the end and used to stay in the kitchen.
Now that the oldest dog has died and the rott has gone, the labrador is the perfect dog and has run of the house with the other labradors. The other labradors are 9 yrs, 6 yrs, 4 yrs, 2 yrs and 20 mths. All very relaxed and laid back and so I presume Taryn was just trying to be dominant over the old boy and rotti.

Yes, I too have this, especially Pepe(one of the Yorkies), not only will he pee on Tobey, he sometimes pees on Storm, the Newfie, when she is lying asleep in the front room!!! He asked for a step ladder for Christmas??!!! Can't think what that's all about!(but I can guess! ;)) :D :D :D

Not quite the same topic but think you will get a kick.  My friends and their dog went to visit his brother who was rooming with some other fellows while attending school.  As one fellow sat their dog walked over, sniffed and cocked his leg on the poor guy's foot.  The other roomies had long complained about his smelly feet.

He, he, reminds me of my Anton.  A few years ago when he was about 10 months (can't believe he's 4 this monthagghhh) I went to my friend Lynn's who has SWD's and there wre a couple of other SWD owners and their dogs too.  Anton loves to cock his leg over me and sit on my knee (I'm sat on the floor of course).  well Anton came to me cocked his leg over sat down and the next second my leg felt rather warm and then wet!  My friends thought it was hilarious of course :rolleyes:

Years ago, we were on holiday in Devon with the dogs. My Mother-In-Law had a border collie who was very well behaved. We were walking up from the water on the beach one day when he cocked his leg all over a little boy bent over making sand castles. We were absolutely mortified, but couldn't stop him. The little boys parents were dog lovers (thank goodness) & we took his t-shirt off to be washed & returned the next day. I don't think many people in this day & age would have been that understanding!

My friend's dog (a patterdale terrier) cocks his leg up said friend's wellington boots whenever he stops walking!

max (now 14 months bulldog  ) pee's on my tess ( 2 yr old bullmastiff) bitch all the time now it drives me nuts lol
