any thoughts on how to get my 9 month old to eat her meals? she is on burns dried food in the mornings with either a little butchers or grated cheese. in the afternoon she has mince, veg and either pasta or rice. nothing is stimulating her appatiteleaving it down, removing it after 15 minutes, long walks, giving  her meals later, everythng i can think of. the only thing i have not tried is the barf diet but i am worred that this  would be just to complicated. any help would be much appreciated especially from missie and leomad or anyone with a leo. by the way hi leomad think i met you brefly at manchester you where with dee?

I would cut out the majority of the grains for now, which means swapping to a more palatable and calorie dense food than Burns... It's main ingredient is rice and it has a low protein and fat content, all 3 are a recipe for disaster for picky dogs :(
Is he leaving the afternoon meal as much as the a.m one? If so,cut back on the veg and pasta/rice,and try adding a sprinkling of liver.Bake it in the oven on very Low for an hour or so,while it's still slightly frozen, this way you will get the juice aswell.

My dogs who are normally great eaters, wont bother if i add too many vegies or too much pasta, they are afterall meat eaters ;)

If you want a very palatable kibble, grain free, high fat/protein,give Timberwolforganics a try,you wont find a dry food with better ingredients in the UK. http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/dogs/dry_dog_food/timberwolf .Take a look at the ingredients and analysis in the wild & natural.

Hi Julie :)
Sorry to hear your girl is off her meals, how many times a day you feeding her now?
I'm afraid I went through this with Molly, the one you met, when she was kibble fed. She just didn't like it full stop. Before I fed completely raw I did try them on naturediet, an absolute hit with the girls :) You could try mixing some in with the kibble or just feeding it one meal on its own.
I don't know what times you feed, mine are fed morning and late evening as these are the two meal times I can guarantee they are hungry most. I know it differs for each dog and you could be setting yourself up for a fussy dog if you keep adding tasty bits to their diet just to get them to eat. (been there, done that ;) )
IF you want to feed raw, and you know your girl will enjoy it, there are lots of helpful and useful sites/books etc. I've never had mine refuse a meal since going for raw, unless of course they are feeling under the weather (seasons etc) I can't recommend a complete food as I've never found one that Molly enjoyed for the duration
If you do want to add something tasty to try to finish off the kibble, then tinned fish, raw egg, yoghurt, scrambled egg, is what I used to add :)

thanks guys, am seriously concidering barf, dee your dogs look great on it. I have been up since 3am with Storm she is vomiting up bile and looking very lathargic. Not sitting in the front room with me but in the dining room on her own. I bet she has gone and eaten something that she should not have again, she has done this in the past so think i will phone the vets and just get her checked over. dee she is fed twice a day in the morning about 7.30 after her walk and then again in the evening about 6ish. she has always been a bit on the fussy side re food (kes her "sweets" though. i use to worry about it but she is now 9 months old and weighs 40 kilos so i think she must be getting enough. but like the kids you are always worrying. We did go to a show on sunday and i am just wondering if she has picked something up from there

sorry for not posting yesterday. took Storm to the vets where she receved and injection and some powder to add to her water. the vet thinks that she had most probarly eaten something which did not agree with her. she really did look unwell and found even walking to much effot. well that was yesterday, today she is back to her normal mad self., thank god.
on the food front after a talk with helen i decided to try her on some raw minced chicken. raced over to the local pet shop and brought a large bag along with some burns mixer. was not expecting her to do anything with it but WOW she did well with it., eating 3/4 of it and then polishing off a dental chew. She is now wandering up and down the front room with her bear in tow play bowing and giving bear a good seeing to, pure majic to watch. Thanks Helen and you to Dee for finally giving me the push to try it.
on another good note Storm has had her first show reports written this week, one in dog world and the other in our dogs. Both very complementery, and very simular. so very proud of her, really is a nice feeling

Oh so glad she is feeling better Julie :)

Maybe it was something she picked up, something she ate when you weren't looking?
But as long as she is eating again and is happy thats all that matters :)

will take a look in our dogs :)
