Or should I say how does my dad transfer music that he's downloaded onto his computer and transfer it onto his MP3 player?

yes please simple language i have downloaded to my computer plugged in my mp3 player and everything was going fine but then i get a message on my computer screen saying , something like need a faster download plug in or words to that effect so i get nothing on my mp3 player

well I do download from cd's to my pc and then to three other mp3 players.  Can I ask make of mp3 player and are you using windows media player ?

The rough process is you 'rip' from the cd to the music library and then you 'sync' from the pc to the mp3 player. 

The message about this device would perform faster you dont need to worry about this is to do with the speed that the usb port can go at - just click the x to make that go away.  You may then get a pop up window saying something along the lines of tell me what action to take every time you do this - I just select the no action.  Then I am free to 'rip' and 'sync' to my hearts content.

However - all three mp3 players like different software so it may depend on what you have......
