Ive been away from work for a few weeks (family drama...)
But scouting through Operational notices today I saw that colleagues (Met Police) had been called out to instances of Poisoning of dogs... area involved at the moment is Richmond Park and Ham lands/Richmond.
(the notice I read was a few days old havent had time to recheck more info, but PM's & toxicology reports werent back)
Vets stated however it was worst case of poisoning he'd seen.
Dog walkers in this area warned to keep dogs likely to scavange on leads... it seems it is an individual leaving infected foods. The dogs on the report for which the poisoning was fatal: one died on way to vets the other had to be PTS. :( :(

So please be careful if your using these areas.
If I hear anymore I'll update.

Not far from my parents - will keep in mind on next visit, thanks. Some people are just insane. :-(

That's awful! A lifetime ago I used to live round there (first Mortlake, then Wimbledon) and have certainly been dog walking there.

"I know both the owner and knew the Labrador that died  2 weeks ago. The owner uses the same Vet as I do, Pierre Andrei in Kew Road. I was there yesterday and spoke to Pierre about the incident. He said the dog had had a post mortem and he could state that Sam had not died from poisoning but had died of what seemed to be haemorrhagic enteritis. The owner had not taken him to the Vet until the morning despite her having noticed that he was in a bad way the previous evening. Mr Andrei was cross that the owner had caused such a stir despite being told that her dog had not died from poisoning. Furthmore he pointed out that a few foxes had also been found dead but made the point that it was now the mating season and the vixens were in season and lots of fights took place between the males so it was likely that a few of the older dog foxes would succomb after scraps with younger ones. I am hoping that this is a case of a maybe guilty owner assuaging her conscience, there are horrible signs everywhere now about this so it needs some honesty please

Hilary Bartlett"
