Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Colour Restricted Classes
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 29.01.07 13:43 UTC
Not relevant to my breed, so I'm not sure whether I'm right or wrong on this ...

A friend who is fairly new to showing has entered an AOC Open class at a champ show in the hopes of a stud book number. I don't believe that colour restricted classes do (or should!) give stud book number qualifications.

Am I right, or is she? Also, do restricted classes give Crufts qualification?

Thanks,
M.

No, I don't believe they do...give stud book numbers that is!

I don't think they give crufts qualifications either.

Well they are never listed in the classes breeds can get stud books/ qualifcations in, including band E breeds :)

We have colour classes in our breed such as special open fawn and you cant gain a stud book no in them classes only in Limit & Open...

Hi Clairey,

It's only done in some breeds and only at Club shows.  Breeds like Poodles, Danes, Bull Terriers, etc have them.  The sort of breed where one colour normally dominates.  It also happens in Ibizan Hounds where you have not only the "mainly red" or "mainly white" classes but also special smooth coat and special rough coat classes - again, only ever at Breed Club shows.  And no - none of these classes qualify for Crufts.

Boxer shows used to have them for solid coloured dogs. They don't qualify for Crufts as I won one at the Championship show, well the dog did:cool:

I have seen them at open shows for CKCS before :)  Also though they don't have the classes at some shows they will have tropheys for say "best black and tan" and "best tri"

Aussies club shows have colour classes purely judged on the colour of the dog which are done after BIS :)

Yes, Cavs often have colour classes at their club shows, also weight limit classes (up to 18lb). My girl won a 'best tricolour' class once, I bet it's fun for the steward trying to find all unbeaten tris / rubies etc!

We have colour classes at American Cocker Club shows too. ASCOB is Any Solid Colour other than Black. Black and Black & Tan go together in a class and the Parti's have a class. These are regarded as special classes and therefor don't have Crufts qualification or the like, attatched to them, but they are good for Junior Warrant points.
