Mike and me are thinking about going up to Edinburgh the second weekend in October (10th to the 13th) for our second wedding anniversary.I was wondering whether anybody knows if anything is going on then ? Is there anything going on in respect of the Edinburgh Festival ?

Also where are the places to go and see and also does anybody recommend good hotels ? 4* or above?

Thanks

Lucy

If you stay here, can I stay in your wardrobe? I'll be no bother honest.

It looks wonderful especially the dedicated butler !

The only thing is is to persuade Mike ! I shall try the route on the money we save on getting the flights via airmiles..........otherwise it will be a bit of a squash in the wardrobe !!!:D

Since it's offseason, you might be able to negotiate a special package through them. It doesn't hurt to ask :D :D :D Due to the low tourism this year all through Europe and GB, many hotels incl. the luxury ones are trying to draw extra business.
good luck.
toodles

Also the posh business hotels tend to have offers at weekends :)

Lucy, if you are into history, try to get to the Borders (or even stay there instead of Edinburgh (ugh :-)). A mate of mine runs a beautiful "B&B" (evening meals too) - massive Victorian house, dogs welcome, large grounds plus lake, all the rooms fitted out in the best period style. OK so it isn't a 4 star hotel, but the idea is to make the 'ambience' like a sort of Edwardian house party. Can't recommend it highly enough. Can't think of many better places for a romantic few days.

Ooh ooh. Where? Sounds nice and I'm always looking for places to go. Might be handy to have somewhere to stay in the borders so that I can go to P2Ps this year (as it might be the last :( )

Could you e-mail me details?

Done! I added a map. The house is just outside Kirk Yetholm.

Thanks Sharon and everybody we have just booked for three nights at the Sheraton Grand and we are really looking forward to it. We want to have a really good time and let our hair down and spoil ourselves as we have both been down since loosing Mars and so hopefully this is going to be a way of cheering ourselves up.

Thanks again
