at work today a client boughting a new puppy a cockerpoo it was amiercan cocker with a toy poodle the cost,
£700.
Well i do hope you charged her tripple the going rate to groom and trim her 'rare' breed as they need 'special' coat care LOL!
She obviously has money to burn!!!

this was at a swimming pool not a grooming parlour

:( :(
there's one born every minute :( (fool, I mean not cocker poo, hopefully ;) )
Can you imagine the coat tho as an adult?? The profuseness of the American C and the curls of the poodle - and that's if they're lucky
I can't see the reason for these crosses, there are plenty of pedigrees to choose from, or if they want something really unique they could get a mongrel :) I had a beautiful Afghan X Terrier (ie. mongrel :) ) for free and he was gorgeous, difficult to train but lovely :)

Fools and their money ...

What JG you mean you don't want one :-D ;-) heavens just think you will get double the trouble. I bet they have been fully tested as well for both breeds major troubles ;-)

I think I'll pass on the offer! :D I wouldn't pay that much for a registered pedigree, let alone a crossbreed!

Too true, I saw an ad for chihuahuas the other day for £1500 each - not even 'teacups' or 'miniatures', just proper ones! Flippin rediculous

How ridiculous.....but that is the way it is sadly.
However I really dont know what the prices of breeds should be!
I bought our little dog for £450. Now I didn't question the price at all, nor did I shop around other breeders asking what the going rate was. I thought they would not be to keen to sell to me if they thought that was going to be my main concern.
When I bought my Lab 14 years ago she was £100 but partly Lab her sire was a 3/4 Lab, so there was no pedigree with her.

Obviously this puppy will be ineligible for registration. It seems as though whoever bred this 'designer puppy' is in it for the money. I wonder if both parents have had the relevant health checks for their respective breeds. I cannot understand this latest fad. The real problems will begin if owners of these 'designer puppies' decide to cash in and breed from them. As every student of Mendel knows, these dogs are effectively F1 Hybrids. They carry 'chaotic' genes and will not breed true to type for several generations, and then only by careful, selective breeding by experts. When will people realise they are paying extortionate prices for mongrels!!!

I met a JRT X Chi today BUT thankfully the owner described it as such not a designer breed, I was waiting for a name like jackhiua or chiruss lol -
where i walk my dogs now a woman is walking 2 cockerpoos for her daughter! brother and sister £600 each! they are quite cute and look like american cockers but the coat is wavy not curly like a poodle so i would think they do still moult and they do look odd with tails too! i wondered about health checks but didnt like to ask.
