I didn't want to have to write this on here but need some help.

Many of you will know that I am currently renting a property in Devon due to having to fight a court battle to get my money from a property sale. Without that I won't be in a postition to buy again.
I have searched everywhere, agencies, friends and grapevine for a property to rent with dogs. I have to be out of the current property by 10th February!!! As it stands I have no where to go. Even asking to take 2 - 3 dogs is proving a problem. I have 6 but can probably get friends to take a dog for a while. I have rehomed dogs but if I want to keep the lines I have I need to keep the ones I have. 2 are retired. The dogs could if they needed to go in a garage or kennel with the exception of the 2 oldies!!! Not ideal but they will manage.

DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANYWHERE/ANYONE WHO HAS A PROPERTY WHICH WILL TAKE DOGS???
I AM NOW SO DESPARATE I WILL MOVE ALMOST ANYWHERE ALTHOUGH I DON'T DRIVE SO DO NEED TO BE ABLE TO GET GROCERIES!!!

Also does anyone know anything about the law on sitting tenents, the agency have told me if I have no where to go i can sit until the owner gets a court order. This is not something I want to get into but at the moment I don't have much choice. Never been in trouble with the law ever so don't really wish to start in my thirties.

The councils all say if no child involved they can't help and would not take even one dog anyhow!!!

Any advice anyone please?

All I can say is keep pestering all the letting agents you can find.  We did this when we had to move and found a lovely place which, five years later, we have bought :)

Rented houses that take dogs are few and far between but they ARE out there.

Have you tried putting an advertisement in the local shops or newspapers?  Would it be possible to contact the owner of your current property - as he/she has been prepared to rent to you and your dogs (presumably with no problems), he/she may know of someone else who would do the same?  Other than that, would it be worth contacting your breed rescue in the area to see if they can be of any help, either finding property or maybe fostering your dogs as a last resort?

Yes have advertised and on advert websites. Also put notices up in vet surgeries. Nothing has come up.
Was going to put ad on my own site but that means the person I am fighting would find out and have a good laugh. This is what she wanted and I don't want to let her know her wish will come true in about 3 wks.

Don't know about the law as such, but a friend of mine let her house to someone. The tenant who has dogs was told her lease was up last July but has sat tight. My friend has served her with notice to quit, but she is still sitting tight (and has not paid any rent since July!) The tenants arguement is that she has nowhere else to go, and so far it seems to be working. BTW this is in Scotland - it may be different in England.

I have been told it will take about 2 weeks for the owners to get a court order and then I will prob get 7 days to get out, before baliffs etc remove us. If the owners themselves have to sign paperwork could take longer as they are aboard but it doesn't buy us much time.
They will not re let the property as it is being sold. I did know it was on the market as well so I was stupid to take it.
I do have offers for 2 dogs being fostered by friends or friends of friends. One of the dogs no one wants bless her!!! I have someone who wants River but they would want to keep her and I do at some point hope to have a litter from the little madam.
I really can't believe it has come to this. I am seeing my solicitor again on Monday to try to get money prob sorted but have been told it could be 5 years through every court there is.

Hi...we were in that position a while back, what you need to do is find out all your local 'trusts' such as Dutchy ofCornwall and the like, they expect country folk to have dogs! perhaps your local library or CAB may be able to give you details of whats in your area The Dutchy have a website just google it and it should give you options, dont be put off they are not all in Cornwall............i know of properties owned by them in Shropshire and Herefordshire

just a thought but you could try an ad in either (or both) of the dog papers - or have a look in some of the 'horsey' mags they may have rural properties that accept dogs.

Will do that hadn't thought of that. I have contacted the estates around here cos they own a lot of properties BUT unfortunately once people are in they rarely move out.

Will also try horse and hound etc

I may be renting my place out in the very near future, its all depending on me getting a job which I will hopefully know about within the next week or two.  I will allow dogs no worries but dont know if my place will be big enough for six although I do have a big garden.

Try http://www.rightmove.co.uk loads in Devon on there You may need to ring about dogs though as it dosen't state.
