My CKCS girl is 18mths old and has been spayed. She is good in the home, behaves well apart from theodd time she want come to me if she is concentrating on some thing else. A little more training and I,m sure I will overcome this. My main concern is that she chases cars. When she hears a car she stops walking and looks round to see where it is, then if it is going to pass she stands still to watch it and then starts to go after it when it passes, this is on a quiet road. On a busy road she pulls and wines to get to the cars and really scares me. If she pulled off the lead she would be under a car.
I really dont know what to do. Somebody suggested it could have something to do with chasing, as she chases paper and leaves that blow in the wind in our garden and on the pavement.
Does anyone have any suggestions of how to overcome this broblem as I have to walk her where there are no cars at the moment.
Thanks Bronwyn

I'm sure that others will have ideas how to stop this :) Personally I would try as hard as possible not to give her the opportunity of doing this. If you know a car is coming, walk quickly so that she has to walk along with you. Talk to her in a very happy voice saying something like 'Let's go this way' etc - totally ignoring the car and her behaviour. If she is interested in a toy or a treat, have it ready in your hand and get her attention on that while the car is passing and reward her with it (maybe get her into a sit) when that car has passed. Soon she should ignore the car and be 'all eyes' on the treat instead :)
