Sorry Lucy but one of you posts made me think....
Maybe you wont let on but,
WHat do you feel about this 'dog forum'???????
for me, you lot would be the first people I would turn to if there was a problem with one of my dogs (after the vet if it was serious of course)
The first people to hear if I lost an animal, as I would know you would understand,
And I would also turn to you lot for other things(and have done), as I know there is a wealth of knowledge in all of you lot.
I have a,lso met a few friends through this conference. ]
And througjh this conference you have saved my dogs life. If it hadnt been for this conference, I would not have known and got Gemmas pyometria treated so promptly and she may well be dead now.
I alsp would not have got my Am cocker Beano,
And not known about other health issues that have come up over the years.
So WHAT have you learned, do you owe to CD??????
Lea :d

One thing I have learnt is I say sorry too much

The one thing that I thank this forum for is that I have made so many friends but a few that will be life long friends and have made me think about life in such a different way ;)

BUT I have learnt so much  I think though I still have so much to learn ;) :D

I also have a lot to thank this forum for :)
I first came on here looking for a Leonberger, nearly 4 years now (I lurked for ages first ;) )
I now have 3 :)
If it hadn't been for CD I would never have found another 'specialist' forum (thanks Teri) also I would not have learned so much about the right food for the same said dog.
I have learnt much more about training, illnesses, diets, other breeds etc, than I would have done otherwise ;)
I've met and made good friends. Shared secrets, laughs, good times and bad.
This is the first place I come to if I have a dog related problem. Its the first place I look when I come on line. (haven't read a paper or watched the news for ages - why bother? I can get it all here) :)

I confess to trying other dog forums, but I much prefer this one.

I have learned to count to 10 over and over again. I can sit on both hands at the same time :-)

Joking apart, I have learned a lot through for some very valuable knowledgable people. I can't honestly believe I have been a member since 2001 and I have several good freinds now that I have met through CDs.
- By LJS Date 14.01.07 00:46 UTC
Oh yes I agree I have learnt that as well :D :D 'No I must not type a reply' repeated several times  :D :D

Not that it was the same in my home and had a flipping good rant about it :D :D :D

I Have learned loads from this forum (and still learning loads :) )  and not all of it about dogs :D :D

I Have learned patience and how to bite my tongue till it bleeds :) (comes in very handy when with the MIL ;) )

Have had my faith in human nature and the kindness of others restored after it was very badly battered - thank you all for that :)

Thanks to you lot I managed to keep my sanity when the neighbours were making me question it seriously.

Am constantly amazed by the collective knowledge of the forum that is CD :D :D   It's better than the BORG!  :D :D :D

I have learned more than I could ever imagine from here.  I arrived in August 02, exasperated, as one of those awful "my dog won't mate" posters.  I remember everyone being very helpful and polite and made me feel very supported.  I now know so much more about breeding, health, feeding and dogs in general but if I don't know, all I have to do is ask.

Champdogs has been my bit of regular reliable security I suppose; I know I can always post my concerns or thoughts that as a single mum I don't have an appropriate adult at home to share with - you lot have been my substitute so thanks.  On the dark and horrid days and nights, CD life goes on as usual - you don't have to wait, you don't have to pay - you just join in.  You don't have to dress up, you don't have look right, you don't have to be qualified.

Lucy isn't the only one who has learned to sit on hands.  I've learned to type, read, wait THEN post!   I've learned that not everyone is honest in their posts, and others can be downright nasty but I have an ignore button so I don't have to worry - it's not the end of the world.  As well as sharing my life with you, others share theirs and I'm honoured and thankful to be part of that.

CD is an amazing network, of people, of friends, of knowledge, information and fun.  Perhaps I should tell you more often how much I appreciate you!  Thank you.

Oh my word - i dont think I would still have a dog now if it wasnt for this forum.  I realise now I didnt have a clue when I first got my dog from the rescue centre and with the issues I had with him and because of him I didnt know where to turn.  Then everybody on here stepped in and now all is well with the world.

I think that Jacky has said a lot of what I would say :)

The biggest thing that I have learnt is that I must be more patient and I still find it difficult to accept, after 51 years, that I am not always right - usually, but not always (I did say that I am finding it difficult, didn't I ........ ;) :D ) :) :)

I have learned a huge amount about dogs and their welfare.

I have also had it reconfirmed that this world is made up of all types of person, who all have varying beliefs and live varying lifestyles but are nevertheless all concerned for the welfare of their dogs and those of the dog world in general. We may not all agree on the ways of the world but it is this diversity of thought which makes the world such an interesting place to live.

I have also learnt to sit back and think out my replies so that rather than just replying from the heart I can sometimes manage to put my brain in gear as well.:)

CD was the first dog forum I joined and must admit there was always someone there to help me if i asked a question :D
- By flora2 [gb] Date 15.01.07 19:20 UTC
since I was a small child I always wanted a dog but came from a family of non animal people. I bought books and listened to vets and its nineteen years since I got my first dog but I have learned so much in the last year since viewing. in fact 'I don't feel worthy!' So many of you have so much knowledge and experience. I am only a dog owner and will never be a breeder but its so nice to get information from you guys.

CD is what keeps me sane a lot of the time. :)
- By huskypup [us] Date 22.01.07 13:38 UTC
I love this forum and although I do not post very often I always feel welcome.  I have learned a great deal of invaluable information about dogs and their behaviour and also other useful tips, such as the best vacuum cleaner to buy!  :D

I think of everyone on CD as an extended family, most people are very helpfull, whether its a doggy question or something else.

When my hubby was very ill and later died (5yrs ago now) everyone was so supportive and belive it or not thats what kept me going through all the bad times, someone you could talk to and you would find that someone on this board had been through what you were going through and really understood how you felt.

Same with doggy questions, a mine of information, I am still learning lots of little hints and tips,, some you would never think of doing, that really work.

I have noticed now that a lot of the general public are listening to breeders and not buying pups from puppy farms, a lot have learnt the hard way with losing dogs very young and now go to a reputable breeder, whether it means waiting for a while for a litter being born.

Keep up the good work everyone, this is the best "doggy and information board" on the www

I have also met loads of new friends on this board as well, and try and follow their sucesses in the show ring.

After everythin that has happened over last few weeks, this has been the worst 4 weeks Ihave known. I have lost 8 people I know and 3-4 that I knew through default.
This thread is so near to my heart at the moment.
I have cried for someone I have never met.
Lea.

I missed this thread, only 'skimming' through many threads after a short absence...

I am amazed at the wealth of knowledge that people are willing to give freely without wishing anything in return, are there to help and hold our hands, help us through the bad times and share all the good things in our lives... You have empathy, you have feelings

I have learned this 'dog forum' is a 'human forum'

Many have shared with us things that would never have been spoken to close family, shared all our ups and down, laughed and cried with us, trusted us.

I have laughed with people I will never meet, I have been overjoyed for people I do not know........... and....
Like Lea, I have cried for someone I have never met,

I love this forum and all the people on it, it is like one big family and everyone is different with lots of varied input, it is funny how I have little pictures in my head of what everyone looks like :-D I have learnt so much since finding this site, it is the only site that feels like home to me and I know if I were having any problems this would be the first place I would turn, it is just nice to know that there is always someone here for the good and the bad. :-) And that we can all help each other out.
