Do they eat the whole thing? Imead do they not cause problems with splinters

What breed are your dogs Katja?
( to better advise you ;) )

I give mine all of the bones mentioned above and also beef marrow bones, these are the bones that the butcher is most likely to give you when you ask for dog bones. The collies have never managed to break bits off the leg bones but my borzois do - I'm not sure if your shepherd would? Knuckle bones are probably better because even though they do eat the whole thing they tend to grind the knuckle bones down, they never (ime) splinter.

My small jrt has got a knuckle bone on the go, but I have taken it off him. He seems to be literally grinding the enamel off his teeth. What do y'all think?

He's probably grinding off plaque and tartar. If you're worried let the vet have a look and check.

Hi curly what breed is your dog? I did try them with some bones from a local butcher last night and they all went bananas after them the only thing was that this morrnig my gsd had vomited in her crate but i dont think that it was the bone she had eaten but more the piece of dish cloth that she had stollen of my draining board last night(the foam type) but there was bits of bone in it would she have eventualy digested them or not? But the other 3 seem to have no problems
Would knuckle bones be ok for a EBT? I would love her to have a raw bone, but I'm worried because of her powerful jaws.

My dog is a Curly coated retriever he weighs 38kg,when I started Travis on raw I used to feed chicken wings,I find Breast of lamb bones good ,as I said I dont give beef leg bones as they are very very hard, another I feed is Pork hock which is a meal in its self, everyone always told me dont give a dog pork, but as long as its raw 90% of the people I talk to on the raw forum say their dogs are fine, another treat I give is dried pigs trotters I stick them in the oven on the lowest heat until completely dried out(found this on another forum)also dried pigs ears in the same way

Mine eat the whole bone, even beef leg bones. Sometimes they will bring up a little bit of sick with bits of bone in it, but this is quite rare and they get bones twice a week. They obviously digest the whole thing with no problem - and then do strange white powdery poos :D

And forgot to say they would of digested the bone, another good thing about feeding Raw and bones is hardly any trouble with anal glands,I have never had any trouble with Travis

does raw feeding make less waste than dry food ?
By curly

Way way less nice small hard stools, and if I dont pick up the mess one day it has crumbled away by the next,Its something to do with the dogs absorbing all their food so there is only a small amount of waste,

In the raw feeding program how much and what quantities do you feed your travis
By curly
Date 13.01.07 22:56 UTC
Travis has about 2lb of food per day,if he looks a bit lean I up the amounts if he looks a bit podgy I reduce the amounts
