I was watching a film last night (I won't tell you the name as it might spoil it for you ) but in the film the pet dog had "petnav" a GPS locating device in the collar so that the dog could be located on the intenet wherever it was . I think this would be a brilliant device so that if your dog ran off you would know exactly where they were :-D It is a major panic of mine that I will one day lose my dogs  I would be devastated :-(. Anyway, I have searched the web but couldn't find anything like this so I guess it was the film making it up. Surely it must be out there somewhere - it can't be that hard to make with all of the technology available?????

It would be even better if the device was in a microchip as thieves can remove collars :)

My Bro has something like it for his Hawks :)  a tiny transmitter is glued onto one of the tailfeathers and transmits the location to a receiver :)

There are fair number on the market already
http://www.globalpetfinder.com/

The issue is the size and the power requirements

The problem is again it is a collar so it can be removed :)

Wow!!! Good but pricey!!!
I agree that a microchip would be better, no chance of losing such an expensive item or it dying when your dog takes a ip in the most dirtiest, smelliest pudle ever!!
Not available in the UK yet :-(

That looks really good and not too expensive but as has been said its a collar and will get taken off, lost or dipped in the nearest river.

I pay I think £200 a year for the Tracker on my Scooby.

I could imagine that Insurers would look favourably on a device which was implanted :)

I have contacted Tracker with the idea :D

:D :D

Scooby is my car :D :D A Subaru Impreza ;)

Tracker is a device that is fitted to the car and in the event of it being stolen the tracker device is activated. The police can then track the car and arrest the thief

I cannot get insurance on it unless I have it fitted :)

'Scooby's Tracker' , now then, that is a really good name for the new dog device  :D

Ooops!!! I thought Scooby was your dog and you had the solution to all of my problems ;-). Oh well, back to the drawing board :-) :-D :-D

i use telemetry on the hounds when they are hunting. its the same telemetry I use on the hawks. However the radio transmitter is £120 and the receiver is £600:eek:
