Well just got home from Birmingham (went to Phoes breeders Mums for tea in Birmingham - yummy :D)
We didn't even make the split ( class of about 24) :( BUT we had a great day - met Dizzy and Emma there. Phoe was good as gold. She looked very small against the winners in MP and quite alot darker colour :) She was really well behaved and moved a treat - not so sure as much can be said for how I stood her - it seems I fiddled with her front legs when stood for the judge (report from breeder and a friend) but I don't recall that - I guess she moved and I subconsiously tried to correct her and made it worse but I'll improve ;)
Phoebies Mum was VHC in Graduate bitch out of about 20 so that was nice :D
We'll keep trying :D
Sara :)
Linda - great to finally meet you and nice to see you again Emma and Bliss for the 1st time.

Glad you had a good day Sara, not yours or Phebs fault that the judge did not know a perfect puppy when she saw one. :D Whats your next show. Ja:)kie

Win some, lose some eh:) So long as you know you brought the best HOME with you then what can you say;) You have to learn from these mistakes then you can pick up on them next time:) When's your next show? It's all still good experience:) With the benefit of meeting some CH doggers:D :D :D I'm rather jealous really;)

Sara I think you have done exceptionally well even remembering what went on in the ring :D Remember as well that out of those 24 bitches the majority of owners have probably been showing for many many years, that's a hell of an entry to compete against at your first champ show.
At my first champ show I came out of the ring and didn't remember any of it I was soooo nervous and I hated every second of it
Good luck at Darlington, I'll be sure to track you down as having a dog means my bit will be over and done with before you've even started. :-)

Saraw I had a collie many years ago got so many fourth places we ended up calling him fourth.
You have a large numbered breed , 24 is a lot for a puppy class.
here in Ireland you would be lucky to have 4 in a puppy class here in Ireland.
Dont be put off though , as all judges differ in what they want . Mari

Mari thats 24 in Minor Puppy (under 9 months) add that to the number in puppy and add in the dogs and I bet the number of pups will be something like 80. Far more that my breed has all up at most shows. Ja:)kie
Just counted their were 83 Puppies.

ClaireB - with us being such a numerically strong breed they have dogs and bitches judged seperate in their own rings so we are in at 9.30 I think at Darlington but will be around for a while so we will meet up.
Mari - not disheartened. As you say diff judges like diff types. To get to the shortlist in the class would be an achievement :D I have to admit I was very heartened by the Judge (even if she didn't like Phoe particularly) as she did seem to go on dogs and not names which is contrary to what I've heard about some Golden judging ;)
Maybe Phoebie will peak late :) She is bum high at the mo and has lost some of the bend of her back legs at the mo (was perfect at 5 weeks and I'm told what they are like then is probably what they'll be like when grown :) ) There was a goldie pup who won all MP and P classes that is now in junior and if placed is down the line - maybe it peaked early and we'll be the opposite and peak late :D I was surprised by some of the pups - the one who won MP was next to me and was the same age as Phoe but towered over her. Alot in the class were like that - when adult they'll maybe be top end of ideal size and Phoe just perfect ;) Anyway considering I didn't pick her for showing and never was going to any achievement is great :D

Sara, the very fact that she is bum high at the moment shows she is still growing and may well take a few months to finish, Saxon was at his finnished hight at 7 months where as Solli has only just finished at coming up to 2. Ja:)kie

lots of dogs are bum high its a stage they go through and a judge should allow for it

Saraw have not seen a pic of phoebe for awhile
will you send one .I like a late developer better in the large breeds Room for more improvement . I have often seen the most gorgeous collie pups turn into mediocre ones and vice versa.

I want to see pics too *says Claire throwing her toys out of the pram* ;-)
Well if I'm lucky I'll see you in the ring at Darlington as I'm usually there from the start but my class isn't until Post Grad so I should have a little bit of time.
I think you have done great for a person who didn't set out to show in the first place ;-) As for the developing stages you should have seen the length of Harris' legs when he went through the leggy stage. I started calling him Harry Long Legs :D He is very slow to mature so I know I could be losing places because of that (amongst other other things ;-) ) however at least I know I have a better chance of him being in the ring longer than say some dogs who appear to mature very very quickly.
