When making salmon sandwiches for lunch I always divy up the juice and skin parts for Jet and the cats.  But today, after squeezing out the juice, I dumped the remainder into Jet's bowl instead of my mixing bowl.  Oops, quick look around, OH nowhere in sight, scoop the salmon out and into the mixing bowl.  How many filthy, dirty, disgusting, sickening things could there possibly be in her dish anyway? 

Come on, I know I'm not the only one.  What did you do?

Thor is on steroids at the moment ....which have turned him into a bin-diver/scavenger/thief par excellance

Thursday before Christmas, I had just taken the gammon ham out of the stock pot, where it had been soaking, prior to simmering it in cider.   The phone rang.    I amswered it straight away -wanting to find out which of our travellers had arrived safely - and started talking, relaxing, as one does .....then I heard a sort of slurping/chewing sound..............

Thor had the gammon   I rescued it from the floor - it was dirty, skin was half off, it had been knawed and nibbled!  Now this was a 5kg gammon, and I had no intention of chucking it out soooo - I washed it throughly, put it back into the stock pan, poured in 1 litre of vintage cider - and simmered it for 20mins per 500g.   After that, I took it out, cut off the obviously chewy bits, removed rest of skin, slavered honey over the skin & cut a diamond pattern in it - roasted it for 40 mins ......and until now, NO-ONE knew a thing about it :D :D :D  They all raved about it - as usual.

Well....boiling in alcohol should have killed most germs and honey is a natural antibiotic ....;)

Years ago we were going for Christmas dinner with husband's sister, her family and FIL. Since SIL was cooking the dinner I said I'd make a Christmas cake and bring it. So I did, and a magnificent confection it looked when iced. I set it out ready to take early on Christmas morning, turned my back for a second and my then IW took a wolfhound sized bite out of it. Well I'd said I'd bring a cake and I was not going to be beaten. So with my patented quick setting icing - and a hairdrier - I patched it. No one except hubbie who had aided and abetted in the patch job was any the wiser and every crumb of the cake was eaten.

I'd browned mince off in a pan and left it on the hob until later when i caught our old girl on the units leaning over eating the mince  hubby still got shepherds pie for dinner :D

I watched OH make his sandwiches for work, walk over to the fridge to put the butter away and in that short moment molly had licked the ham that was sticking out :P I've never told him and he still leaves them on the worktop and is totally oblivious as to why its her favourite place to sit :rolleyes: - he thinks she just likes to 'watch' ;)

Well, alright then - I had a batch of chocolate caramel shortcakes still in their tin on the work surface, and George swiped his tongue over the top of the chocolate. I think I gave a quick wipe with a damp cloth and then stayed quiet!! And I KNOW he and Ellie have licked the grill pan while it's cooling down on the lid of the grill and OH hasn't pushed it back far enough. :-D
