Hi Happy New Year !!!!!

I'm sure my twelve week old pup has a worm or two that he can't shift.  When I got him I wormed him straight away and he passed quite a few some of which were huge.  i wormed again this week and a couple of hours after worming he strarted frantically licking his bum. He did this for about three hours or so  - yesterday and today when he has eaten or whilst eating he seems to be gagging - he also keeps turning round and biting his tummy and back - do you think this is worms - I think a trip to the vet might be in order - but if it's worms do they have stronger tablets ?

What do you do with persistent woms

What product did his breeder use to worm him and what have you used?

I'm not sure what the farmer used - but i used Drontnal

How often has he been wormed, and at what ages (how old was he when you got him?)?

He was eight weeks old when i got him - the farmer said he had wormed regularly but was due to be done again :rolleyes:
I wormed him at eight weeks and then again at 9 1/2 weeks and then this week at twelve weeks. 

He also tail chases alot and gets hiccups alot !!!

What about his anal glands? Far more likely to cause that sort of reaction than worms are.

Oh forgot to say, hiccups are entirely normal in pups. :)

That should be fine - the only other thing a vet is likely to suggest is using Stronghold on him every month, to kill fleas (which are worm hosts) and existing roundworms. If he had a large worm burden when you got him (it sounds as though the farmer might not have been telling the truth :( - it's unusual to have worms passed with Drontal) then the course you've given him should have sorted them out. If you're at all concerned then a vet visit wouldn't go amiss. By the way, is this the pup who was 12 weeks old back in November when you got her and posted about her, or another one? It sounds very like the one with worms that your friend got - did your friend pass him on to you? You must have your work cut out with two puppies!

No - Unfortunately the one i posted about in November went back to the rescue centre she came from - Her growling worried me too much when she started growling at me two year old niece for no reason at all.  She has found a home now with no other dogs - She may have got over it eventually here, but I just couldn't take that risk.

Thanks for your help - but do you think it could be possble that he still has a worm or two ?  He seems a little disturbed.

Sorry I thought you was referring to the pup I had in November that was growling .

Not the my friends pup who wasn' eating - they're doing very well at the moment - no problems whatsoever !
