After my 10 yr old dog has been laying down for a while, she struggles to get up, and has a slight limp until she has walked it off like cramp.
Could it be cramp or athritis?
Should I be worried?
After she has walked it off for a minute or two, she is fine and can run around as usual. She doesn't make a noise, so I don't think it is hurting her.
Any ideas?

More likely to be Arthritis I would have thought :)
It would be wise to get her checked out at the vets :)
It couldn't be hip dysplasia could it?
I really hope not.

I doubt it as she would have more than likey displayed symptoms before this :)
Even if it is HD there are good treatments to help with joint mobility and pain management :)
As suggested before pop her to the vets for a good check over ;)

That's how my dog with HD was -it started when he was about 6 or 7. When we put him on Glucosamine with Chondroitin he was able to get up again. :)
I am going to start on Glucosamine.
If it is HD, is there anything they can do, or is it just to look after her and give her fish oils etc?
I am assuming from the answers I have got and the information on the net that it is arthritis or HD, more likely arthritis.
It is mainly her back right leg that she has problems with. She runs around most of the time still too, it is just that few minutes after getting up.
BTW she is a Jack Russell
Any ideas where I can buy Glucosamine with Chondroitin cheap online?

As she's a small dog, slipping patella is a distinct possibility. Many, many JRs have this (it's the cause of the characteristic JR 'skip'), so it might be worth mentioning that to the vet next time you go.
Thanks for that, I will mention it.
She does do a little skip when she is out walking, she always has.

Like a little bunny hop - on one or both legs?? That tends to be luxating patella. :)
She does skip with her back right mainly, but sometimes both.
Been to the vets. She said it isn't a luxating patella, and probably not HD. She is pretty sure it is arthritis, but if we want we can get an xray to double check.
She extended her legs etc.
She injected her with rimadryl and gave us some metacam to give to her.
I am pleased (if you can be pleased) that it is arthritis and hopefully we can manage it for her.
Should I bother with the xray if metacam doesn't work?
