Hmmm.. The City traders are infamous for having sweepstakes amongst themselves on E-bay auctions, usually its who gets highest price for most ridiculous item (remember the Banana with a face, used teabag etc)
   I reckon this is a 'Chaps' dare ;) and the obscene Christmas bonuses they recieved its concievable.
