how much excersize/training should an adult cocker spaniel have?, its not mine but a neighbours.

They're gundogs, designed to be out 'in the field' all day. So ... in fairness, a couple of walks of about an hour each should do a pet show-bred cocker.

I think a lot depends on the age of the Cocker, how full of energy it is, and how much free running about it can get at home. At least 1 good walk a day though.

My Yankee seems happy with only 20 or 30 minutes a day, all offlead. But he's even happier when my OH takes him to the Lakes and he gets several hours! :-D

Don't give them any bl**dy exercise at all.  Keep them locked up in small boxes!!  Sorry, cynical tongue in cheek answer after mine went missing yesterday.
Put it this way, mine were out for nearly 12 hours and you wouldn't be able to tell that today.  They slept all evening but today - no change!

You may have the opposite problem jackyrat. After 12 hours out yesterday they'll look at you with great disdain when you try to end today's outing after only an hour or two. :-D but mommm, we were out ALL day yesterday
