Has anyone heard of an Italian dog food campany called Sanypet? They produce a fish based 'hypoallergenic' food called Forza10. The UK rep phoned me a couple of weeks ago and now a 20kg bag has arrived. I'm thinking of trying it on my lady with a sensitive tum when her present bag of Wafcol is finished but wondered if anyone else has got samples and has tried it.

Thanks for all the info. The large dog version has quite a high fat level which is good for us because deerhounds need a higher than average fat diet. I'll let you know how I get on with it when I've tried it.

Same here katt,my friends very sensitive dog does well on fish based foods,BUT then i saw the ingredients and wondered how owners with sensitive/allergic dogs could feed this food when it is full of un named ingredients and the few that are named are known as high allergenic ingredients

From the "desensitation" Line.....

Ingredients: cereal, fish and fish by-products, vegetable protein extracts, oils and fats, vegetable by-products, yeast, minerals, fruit (pineapple stalk), dry extract of ginseng, natural extracts of tocopherol (E306).

:Cereals: what type of cereals?? :Fish by-products: This rules this food out straight away as owners with allergic dog need to know exactly what it is they are feeding. This dog has intolerances to corn,so a food that has corn, corn gluten meal, corn oil,all cheap alternatives to meat would send her into and itching frenzy :( And beer yeast  I'm not sure about the beer part  but even my healthy dogs, ears particularly, dont do well on foods with yeast in.

>The large dog version has quite a high fat level which is good for us because deerhounds need a higher than average fat diet.

Jas could you point me in the direction of this particular one? The highest fat level i can find is only 13%,which is very low,i cant seem to find a high fat formula of this food.
Good luck,i hope your dogs do well on this food, let us know how it goes :)

Ktee I have a dog that is allergic/sensitive to near everything, we tired Wafcol but he has problems with Salmon. He can only eat fish (Cod, Haddock or Tuna) he also can only eat Oats, Potatoes and Rice. As for fruit and vegetables so far we have tried him on Carrots, pea's, banana and apple he is not good with peas (that rules out Burns). He is not doing good on the food he is on so I am always keeping my eyes open for any fish based food that come on the market.

I get a bit excited when finding one but sadly I always get let down, you would think I would have learnt my lesson by now, oh well got 2 keep looking :)

>he is not good with peas (that rules out Burns).

I think I'm right in saying that Burns Organic doesn't list peas, which makes it the only possible one of their range that's suitable for one of mine.

The highest fat level i can find is only 13%,which is very low

I was curious about this, so went off to check my food, which is 20% fat...then I started looking at other makes and it would appear that 13% is around average for a good quality (in my opinion)maintenance diet. Performance diets obviously tend to have a higher fat content. I've no idea what the purpose of my investigation is - but if it's important to anyone then here is the list :D

Nutro large breed adult maintenance- 14%
Beta Adult Large Breed- 10%
Eukanuba Adult Large breed- 13%
Timberwolf range from- 13 to 18%
Hills adult large breed- 14.3%
Happydog- 7 to 12%
Pedigree large breed- 10%
Bakers complete 10%
Purina ProPlan adult- 17%

Nutro Adult Performance- 21%
Eukanuba Adult High activity- 20%
Hills performance- 25%
Purina ProPlan performance- 21%

Zarah he is on naturesdiet fish and rice but he is not doing good on it, I just can not fathom out why.
- By Ktee [us] Date 21.12.06 23:44 UTC
Katt i take it he's had all the run of the mill allergy tests done? When you say he's not doing good on ND,what's happening, whats the reactions to foods he doesnt do well on?
Have you ever seen a holistic vet with your boy? They very often have great success in treating dodgy tums/allergies and finding the root causes to intolerances, they will treat the whole dog, including the immune system which is often at the root of problems, rather than just the symptom :)
Have you tried homecooking or raw?
- By katt [gb] Date 22.12.06 15:59 UTC Edited 22.12.06 16:07 UTC
Ktee He has been allergy tested.
Reactions are Chronic Gastroenteritis (He is at the Mr whippy stage)
He is seeing a homeopathic vet and is on many remedies.
He is fine on cooked food for a while then it will start up again.
We have tried him on raw fish a number of times and Gastroenteritis returned, two occasions he landed up in the surgery over night, on one occasion he was in for three days I wont be doing that in a hurry again.
He is a dog that seems to be allergic/sensitive to near everything. It seems to us that once his body gets used to the proteins his body starts to reject them. I keep my eyes open for new foods in the hope that we could swap around every so often as just maybe this may do the trick.

hi
Forza10 is a great food! I feed all my dogs on it and they are in excellent condition.
The main line is fish based BUT they do venison and potato as well and also organic line which has different flavours (beef, lamb, chicken).
They also do treats and their delizie line is very low fat 0.9% - 1.5% which is suitable for most diabetic dogs!
