My dog is moulting her undercoat quite alot. I am overwelmed with all the different brushes available. The girl in the pet shop sold me a wire one, the dog hates it, although it is getting the dead fur out. Is this the right brush?? She is a GSD cross with a semi long coat?? Thanks Aly xx
I've always used the wire ones on my GRs and find them good for long haired dogs. When they're moulting, it is often helpful to use a shedding comb afterwards which gets loads more loose hair out. Good idea to dampen the coat first with a water spray though or the hair flies everywhere! :)
I bought a comb type brush combined that fits on the hoover from one of these cheapy shops and it is brill at getting the dead coat out of my Berny's. No fluff flying around either and the dogs think its great to be hoovered!
I find the best thing for undercoat is the rake http://www.hubintsecured.co.uk/acatalog/Rakes_and_Shedders.html. Rotating pins are better, they don't pull at the coat. You will get carrier bags full out. :)
