Topic Dog Boards / General / Law and how it is up held ?
- By LJS Date 19.12.06 14:15 UTC
If a dog was found on a Public Highway without a collar, any form of ID, had not been microchiped and the Dog Warden and Police had been informed how should it be followed up ? How many times does it have to happen before they are likely to prosecute if at all ?

Thanks

Lucy

How can you confirm ownership if the dog has no ID?  That's a complicated one.  My guess is not soon enough.

My dog was microchipped when he went walkies but the dressing down I got from the Police inspector was enough to make me hang my head in shame!  (and righly so!).

Teri - nothing to do with this, but was looking at oooooooold Collie pedigrees yesterday and came across the Glenturret affix. Is it an old family one, or just being recycled?

I'd suggest that ensuring it goes straight into the police kennels where they'll have to pay to get it back (or they do round here, anyway) is normally the quickest route to either making people get their act together or letting the dog go to rescue where it will get a more careful home before it's squashed. :D

What I want to know is when or if people will be prosecuted :)

I suspect it is hardly ever done
