I havent logged on for a while so somone may have already posted about this,but I saw an advert on tv for nintendo dogs that states',none of the hassle involved in owning a real dog'
I was really shocked at first,is this what we need to be teaching children?that also a computer game can ever replace a real dog?or,
Is it good to say this, as so many  people have dogs,and then can't be bothered to look after them properly.

Me and my husband felt it was more negative than anything but what do you think?

I think it's good to mention that dogs are a hassle, need a lot of looking after and are a fulltime, lifetime commitment. Far better that people lose interest in a computer game than in a real animal.

I think they are a good idea for those children who arn't allowed a dog, and i must confess to playing it while on holiday, away from my own dog. My daughter loves her game, she is only 5 and although we have a dog she wanted a little one, so she feels like this nintendo dog is her own one, as she got to choose its name ect...

My daughters both have this game and it really isn't a subsitute for a real dog we have 5!!!  But it's just fun and although the advert may say own a dog without the hassle of course it really isn't anything like that!  IMO it's just a game and nothing more - there are far worse games available to buy at the moment.

It's good fun too!  And the girls love it and have lots of fun with 'their dogs'! :)

my niece has one of these games and loves it ,as she really wants a dog but my brother lives in a flat and no garden(or time),I just felt that the advertising was negative towards real dogs,especially at this time of year,but there you go.

Anything that puts people off getting a real dog when they haven't the time or commitment has got to be a good thing - especially at Christmas. :)

When we do Discover Dogs at Crufts we're discouraged from saying anything to the public that might give the impression that having a dog is all sweetness and light and marvellous. All the negative points must be given too!

Totally agree, people round here get dogs as cute puppies then keep them in the yard, or we have the summer dog walkers. Don't see them in the park in the middle of winter but as soon as the sun appears you can't move for them.
