Topic Dog Boards / Health / Benylin for Pup

Hi - does anyone know if it is ok to give a 14wk old pup childs Benylin? Pup has been couching since 2nd injection (5 days after) - being treated for worms at the moment (Pancure) just in case.  I would however like to give him some Benylin to be on the safe side just in case it's KC.

Yes it will be ok to use as long as it's the children benylin

I would take pup back to the vet to rule out kc. Would not give any of my pups Benylin without the say so of my vet.

Personally I'd give the vet a ring to check on the best treatment. Don't take the pup into the waiting room if you suspect KC.

when Alf had KC at 12 wks I gave him a spoon of honey to soothe his throat when he coughed, a bit more natural than benilyn.

I gave some manuka honey to mine, it gave her the runs
Phoned the vet, he advised Benylin non drowsy, one spoon for pup and two for adults :)

From what I can remember you shouldn't give babies (two legged) honey until they are about a year old due to the risk of botulism. Not sure if this is the same for puppies ??

It may not be the same for puppies but I know I wouldn't take any risks how ever small when it comes to little ones :)

Alf was reared on a "natural" diet which had honey added to it, so not sure if it applies to pups or whether we had a lucky escape

Manuka honey is excellent for all sorts of things, make sure you have 10+ strength.  My daughter ate it from 3 months old and lived to tell the tale.............
