Wendy
I am in the same boat :D :D
Mine were done 5 weeks ago yesterday and still nothing back.........
Just spoke to my friend who is a Vet Nurse and she said at the moment they are taking between 6- 8 weeks to come back........
So, it looks like I will have to keep praying a little longer !!!! :p

oh tons of luck Gabrielle, with your results, well this is a new vet to us,same practise but she has taken over from old vet,she wanted to do GA,but as she still has all our old records, and my hubby nagged the poor woman into the ground to do it the same way,she gave in,
Wendy
hi wendy,
well they are usually about 6 weeks, it does depend when the b.v.a board gets together.
i had one done 6 weeks ago and got the results yesterday and all my others have always been 6 weeks, so it's not too bad you don't have that long to wait now. i know how awful it is waiting.

GOOD LOOK!!!!!!!

Good luck with the results!:) :)
I'm thinking about having my dog hip and elbow scored when he is one year old which will be April.
Did you have hips and elbows scored at the same time or is it done seperately, and is it best for them to be sedated or a GA? I know there was something on here a few weeks ago regarding sedation v GA.
Maria :P

I talked at length to my X ray vet, Jill Reed, about GA v sedation & it's a fine line TBH Jill prefers reversal GA because she can reverse the effects quicker than with sedation. I know she did hip & elbow x rays for someone on here but having a senior moment with who it was ;)

okay Claudia, two more weeks is not so bad,
spot the liar,hahahha
I have no idea why I am being so impatient with this dog, have had all the others done, and you'd have thought I would have learnt some patience by now,
Wendy
I phoned my vet after 5 weeks and 6 days (who's counting ;) ) to see if there was a delay. They'd had the results for a few days but hadn't bothered to check them

They were still in the in-tray. Aaaarrrggghh!!!!! I had both elbows and hips done at the same time, under GA. Costly. Ever had the feeling you're paying for the vets next holiday? :) Or maybe Christmas, seeing as it's this time of year :D

good luck with your results
Wendy

Hello Briedog,we have Mastiffs and live in Croydon, and looking back to two years ago,it only cost just over £300.00 in total, must admit to being quite stunned,

Blimey that is alot!!! We have mastiffs too and it costs us £239 for hips and elbows in total. We're up North though so prices must vary alot!!!!

Hips and elbows can be done at the same time or separately. However it is a little pointless to put your dog under GA or sedation twice. There are set fees by the BVA for actual scoring and a discount is given for elbows and hips together. The rest of the charges are up to the vet.
However elbow scoring is not required in all breeds.
I travelled some distance to have my dog x rayed under sedation by someone who specialises in this and to whom people travel all over the country. The cost was under £150. So at £500 your vet is having a laugh!

hahaaha funny you should say that tohme, she did laugh when handing hubby the bill,(but think that may hve been due to nerves, after seeing hubbys face)and where did you go ?, to get your dog scored,as would certainly think twice before paying this amount again,we have another due to be scored a young bitch this time,to be honest that seems to be the going rate here in Surrey,

A very well known lady in Southampton.

Date 08.12.06 20:02 UTC

I go to this Lady in Southampton to. Hips and elbows together and under sedation and dogs up on thier feet almost immediately, just slept all the way home easy peasy. Can't remember the cost but under £200.00 for a bernese.

right,I am going to seek this woman out,now however much it had cost I would have paid it,but, blimey £500.00,is taking the Micheal a bit is'nt it,as I said before I am hoping to get a young bitch done just after Christmas, and the travelling will probably be worth it in the long run
Wendy
It cost just under £240, so I suppose not too bad, really, compared to £500

The owner of the would-be stud dog nearly fell of her chair when I told her. I could have gone down to her (5 hour journey) had the x-rays done and returned home with change :) Guess where I'm thinking of going next time? :D

Wendy
Mine are back...........
YIPEEEE !!!!!!!! :D
Really pleased....... how about yours ??

Hello Gabrielle,I am sort of/kind of pleased, his is 13 in total on the hips, and 0 on elbows, its really not bad for a mastiff, but they are the highest we've had, normally five in total,oh well,
go on then,spill whats yours
Wendy

If it's below the breed average be pleased! Hip scores to me are a guideline, not the be all & end all of breeding!
Hi Wendy,
We got 8 in total on the hips which is fine by me and is below the breed average........ every dog that my vet has done of mine has been an 8 in total so I am pleased. I was dreading them coming back as he is such an active dog, he can jump the baby gates in the house and we have had to change the gates at the side of the house as they were 6 foot wrought iron, and he could clear them !!!
Well done on a good score, it is below the breed average...... :-D

oh I am really pleased for you,wow and I thought I had problems with my gang, they just burst through doors, argh,am pleased they don't jump,I am not mega disappointed with the scores,
Wendy
By Wendy T
Date 16.12.06 10:04 UTC
I do agree with you Christine, about them being a guideline, but it would have still been nice for them to have been lower,
Wendy

Are they fairly even in score? Then be happy :D, better a 6,7 than a 12,1/13,0!!!!! I'd be happy with 13!
Not for me personally - for my dogs!
My scores (well, the dog's ;) ) came back eventually with a 5/7, so not disappointed. It took long enough, but didn't help that the vet didn't even check his mail for a few days

have not actually recieved mine in post yet, just had a phone call from my vet saying they were through, and she yelled that they are 13 in total,
