Seems  we're seeing something very positive happening at last regarding these collars - they are being banned in Wales by the environment minister. Yes!!! Yes!!!

Yes, once these are gone hopefully we can turn our attention to banning pinch/prong collars which are currently not banned and are even worn by setters/pointers and KC licensed trials!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't even realise those things were legal in this country.... I saw one once, that the chap who ran dog class had brought back from South Africa  - to show people how horrendous it was, I hasten to add, not to use... though in showing it he did at one point try to show how it went on - on my dog :rolleyes: Sensible GSP that he is, he backed away with a "You're not putting that thing near me mate" look on his face.
Hurrah for the banning of shock collars.

Let's hope they ban them and all other negative, punitive, painful "tools of the trade" nationwide!  But it's certainly a move in the right direction :) :) :)

Good news that at last these dreadful things will be banned - I fail to see how they can be substitute to training - which is how I know one person is using them - again on a Setter despite me begging her to seek a new trainer!  She felt there was no other option if she wanted to keep her dog :(

I find it totally unbelievable that the WUSV and BSA have banned the use of pinch/prong collars and handlers in Working Trials/Schutzhund would not dream of or indeed are allowed to put one on their dogs in competition using high drive dogs in manwork and yet handlers of thin skinned/coated dogs such as English Pointers and Setters etc feel the need to use them to control their dogs in Field Trials!

Excellent stuff, hope this spreads nationwide and also extends to the electric stay mats and pinch/prong collars too.

GOOD!!! I remeber having an arguement on here last year...with someone who thought it was ok to use them!!!!
