Topic Dog Boards / General / 'tea bag' bedding
- By dudleyl [gb] Date 12.12.06 20:57 UTC
I have heard mention of tea bag cuttings, which are baled and sold as pet bedding.  Just wondered if anyone knows where I can buy this.  Have heard it is very good for kennels as it is soft and absorbent.

Never heard of this :D Imagine how many tea bags it would take!

I "think" I've heard it mentioned on a rat forum I'm on. Leave it with me and I'll have a look see

I know someone who used to use this in their kennels. Will try to find out where they got it from and get back to you.

Several people on rat forum use it. It £9 a bale and I'm trying to find out what it's called

Thanks for the replies so far - I'm glad I'm not going completely bonkers.  Apparently it makes excellent bedding for dogs.  Although mine are in the house at night, they are kennelled during the day and I thought it sounded just right for them.

berriwoods wholesale 01787238003 white paper 10kg bale from 10,60 to 12,20 depends on how much you buy,

i got it in the back of my jeep so when the dogs a wet/mud they dry off in the car after a run before coming indoor.it good to when a bitch is whelping she can rack up and soaks up the mass after the birth of the pups to,when the pup are older about 5 weeks they love playing and sleeping on it.

I used to use this all the time when I bred hamsters -bought large bales of it. It's very good and very safe but does often include a little bit of tea here and there. :) The wholesaler where we buy our pet food etc sells bales of it. It's a god point actually, I might try it with the dogs one day!

Thanks, will try Berriwoods.  I wonder if Pets at Home stock it or can get it in.
Just hope the dogs realise it's for sleeping and not dragging all over the garden

Farmway Country Stores stock this.  Do a search for a stockist near you

Any good country store should be able to get it for you. I used it for years for our working greyounds. They always came out the kenel dry and clean, even the white ones after a wet nights coursing.
