Topic Dog Boards / General / KC endorsements and working gun dogs

If someone sells a KC registered dog with endorsements on their pedigree to someone who wants to train the dog to work to the gun, does the endorsements still hold if they wanted a litter in the future?

Not sure if I have worded it correctly I want to make sure that the endorsements hold until I am satisfied that all the relevant test have been carried out in the future before the dog is bred from, the couple have not expressed an interest in breeding but I want to edge my bets by making sure that working dogs still have to respect the KC endorsements.

I don't have any knowledge of working gun dogs or there governing body so any one who knows please let me know.

I do have it written in the puppy contract about the relevant test is this enough?

Hope this makes sense?

If the dog is KC reg'd and endorsed, no pups can be KC registered unless the breeder lifts the endorsement -and this fact has to be put in writing to the buyer for it to be valid.

Thanks Marianne for your reply I understand what you are saying but what I dont know is are working gun dogs pedigree's the same as KC ones

Do working lines and show lines all register with the KC or do working lines have a different governing body were they register their litter which would make the KC endorsments None and void

Told you I dont know anything about working lines :-d :-d :-d

As far as I know, working lines are either KC registered or (often) not registered at all. Of course, if they don't bother to register them, the endorsements have no meaning.

I've got working gundogs and they are KC registered.  AFAIK there is no body to register gundogs specifically.

My pups were sold KC registered with endorsements.  Now that only means that if they did have pups, and I hadn't lifted the endorsements, then they won't be able to be KC registered but they can still be sold as working dogs and they can still work although they coudn't be field trialled under KC regulations.

Would I be right in saying the pups could be registered on the activities register to do field trials? If that is the case they wouldn't even have to put the sire and dams name down - so the endorsement would have no effect at all??

Was thinking that as well Chaumsong as we have a rescue GR with no papers but I was advised I could register him on the activities register with the KC to do trials etc.

Well without a signed pedigree from the breeder you have to put age and breed unknown on the activities register and I would actually have thought that a piece of paper where breed, dob and parents all say UNKNOWN would NOT do any breeder -trying to just cash in- a lot of good as it would look quite bad, wouldn't it? If the parents' details are given (i.e. if a signed pedigree is supplied) then I do believe none can be endorsed -my accidental crossbred litter was from an endorsed bitch and her breeder lifted it for me so that buyers could reg them for obedience and agility.

Actually, correcting myself -I see there is now a NEW form and it does NOT have the same wording as the old one I have here! http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/download/378/form5.pdf So forget my previous post.

Dogs have to be KC registered to do Working Tests and LICENSED Field Trials.

Thank you for all your replies :-)

I was asking because I have an 8 month old puppy I was looking to re-home and someone was interested in her as a working gun dog but they never turned up and when I called them to ask if they were still coming they denied any knowledge of what I was talking about:rolleyes:

I have had soooo many people phoned me up about this pup and ask stupid questions I have decided she is staying put:cool:

Thanks again :-)
