...about the LKA show.  We had a wonderful time.  It was spacious, not over-commercialised, the dogs were stunning and the people friendly.  Spent a fortune (only on essentials you understand), walked for miles, fell in love (me with Wolfhounds, OH with Ridgebacks) but most surprising of all suddenly found ourselves surrounded by Miss Things - in the Manchester Terrier section.

She is obviously a Manchester Terrier X not a Whippet X as we thought (having never seen MTs).  Have read up on the breed and, apart from her slightly coarser head, longer tail and round eyes (there's Staffy in there somewhere) she is all MT.  Well that's what I'm going to tell everyone from now on anyway.

BTW plan for third dog was going swimmingly.  Just 'happened' to stumble across Retired Greyhound Trust stall and introduced OH to two charming dogs there and the nice ladies with them.  They confirmed RGs tick all the right boxes for us (chilled, walk well on lead, good with other dogs, can develop good recall etc.) and that they had what we wanted (male, black, past adolescence) and invited us to the Christmas party the following week to meet the dogs. 'Don't worry', one trilled, 'There's no obligation to take one' and then she said it, 'But no-one ever leaves without one!

Looked at OH (Aka The Great Stone Face) - doomed.

LOL @ muttsinbrum's efforts to convince OH.  Hope you enjoy the greyhound xmas party with stone face!! (and a greyhound gets a new mum and dad for xmas)

Hey you - glad it all went so well :) :) :)

Methinks with a little work (send him round here :D ) we can get your OH on side.  I'd definitely give a home to a retired GH in years to come (too into the Tervs for now) - they are such a beautiful, gentle and elegant breed.

Go on - you can do it!

Teri (sending very positive vibes your way

You definately have to work on OH :D My brother and his wife have two ex racers. When the oldest goes they intend getting another one. I'd have one if I could but am limited to number of dogs I can keep. I used to be proud of my grandad who used to race greyhounds in Fife. Not anymore though. When you see what they had to go through in those days........ :(
