Took Pep, my 9 month old Golden to vets when he kept shaking his head....not a lot but obviously something was irritating him. Young vet said his ears are clear but in one ear she could see something with a smooth surface which could be a cyst? She clearly did not have a clue so asked another vet who said she had not heard of it in a dogs ears before, cats but not dogs! Vet said she would ask some other vets and specialists and get back to me. We may have to have him sedated and any fluid in it drawn off for investigation but it is a difficult area especially to remove it.
Has anybody had any experience of this and someone please reassure me that my lad will be okay!!!!

Sorry, never heard of this before but it made me cringe, the poor lad.  I am sure he will be okay, but as they said, a difficult area to remove it from.  I am afraid it is a case of trusting in your Vet on this one. At least one thing if it is a cyst at least it isn't life threatening so try not to worry too much.

Well would you believe it? When the vet looked there was just some ear wax there!! He said it may have been something that burst and left the residue he could see in the ear. He was almost disappointed not to have seen it for himself. Told me to see him if we had the same problem again!  Oh what a relief.
