we are having a party at ours in a couple of weeks, probably about 50 people, mixed ages (15-60) I will be doing all the food and need some ideas for interesting nibbles that can be made ahead and frozen. Some  things I will buy readymade but also want to do some original homemade stuff too. Any ideas?????

You can't beat all the frozen party food currently in Sainsbury's, it's so cheap & easy to prepare leaving you free to enjoy the party!

But if you want to do some things yourself how about the following:
1. Big bowl of chilli with nachos
2. Potato skins filled with bacon, cheese & onion - great to make up before & then heat through later, delicious served with sour cream!
3. Home made bannoffee pie, so so easy to make & delicious

I also find this time of year a good cheese board always goes down well & some warm mulled wine, yum yum!

I'm starving now....

Hope you have a great party! :)

Jamie Oliver keeps banging on about cocktails sausages with a chilli and cranberry dip.. Looks well nice.  I think it is the sainsbury's advert, so I'm sure they must have the recipe somewhere!

Don't think you can freeze, but can prepare filling a couple of days before and assemble the day before:
Mix some soft cheese (Philli or similar) with some horseradish sauce.  That's your filling done.  Day before: put filling into a slice of smoked salmon and roll up like a sausage roll, cut into finger size bites.  Dip ends in some chopped dill or parsley and keep chilled.  You don't need much smoked salmon and they are very tasty!

Watch Nigella's programme this week - she is doing party nibbles.

just thought of another.  Profiteroles are SO easy to make.  You can make a pile, stuff the cream in them and freeze them.  Then all you need to do is defrost and pour chocolate or mocha sauce over them.  I did them for a big family party with 80 people.  I made about 200 and froze them in large poly bags.

You could do a ham in advance and slice it up.  Nigella's choc fruit cake is delicious and easy to make.  Very rich so a little goes a long way - sorry to keep on about Nigella - I think my OH is in love with her.

thanks for the ideas so far. Got a couple of books from the library today too so will get organised tomorrow and do shopping list etc and maybe do some bits that I can freeze.
Thanks. Will let you know how it goes!
