besides tripe,what foods or ingredients,really help for weight gain on a dog,i mean really,because dog is recovering,thanks

As your dog is in recovery from an illness, depending on whether it was a GI problem for eg, there may be some foods which are not suitable.  Some problems are made much worse by adding fatty foods to the diet .....

If in doubt, check with your vet first and if not diet related or diet managed then breast of lamb, RAW chicken thighs/wings, fatty fish such as mackerel, sardines and salmon can all help.  Introduce each slowly though to avoid tummy upsets.  Perhaps best to add a small extra meal in the evening rather than bulk up existing meals as dogs having lost weight are similar to ourselves and need less volume of food to feel full up.

If you use the [search] facility at the top of the forum menu, type in "satin balls" - many swear by them as being a quick way to put on weight (haven't as yet used them myself!)
