hello all!
i at the mo i am in college full time studying to be a sign language interpreter i am doing my advance skills then after that i have to go and find work in the deaf community for 2 yrs untill i can get in to a college in bristol (i live in north wales by the way!) so its far away then i do a very intense couse then only after that will i be a basic interpreter!
but there is 1 problem i want to work with animals like i always have done! when i was 16 i joined college and did my first diploma in animal care untill i was 18 i coudnt get onto the next year as you have to get a certian amount of points and i was 5points down as i missed alot of college when my aunt died so i went and did sign language and did about 3/4 years of work in just 1 year!!!
i havnt been happy in college for the last couple of months i havnt been enjoying doing sign language it doesnt help when i one of the tutor bullies me.so a few weeks ago i looked around for animal care jobs i applied at loads of places but most places dont take staff on at this time of year so i just thought that im going to be carrying on doing sign language untill i find a good job but this morning a lady rang me up about a kennel assistant job a few miles away from me so i have an interview tomorrow at 11!
im sooo nervous i cant screw it up as i will have to go back to college if i do.
can you all PLEASE give me some good interview tips so i can get the job and be happy ever after!
thanks
heather
p.s sorry the post is soooooooooo long i blabed on a bit, note to self i will NOT blab on at the interview!
think of the types of questions you might be asked, try and stay calm (easier said then done I know). You might be asked to handle a few of the dogs. And try not to think about it for half an hour before, so you go in with a clear head, as I normally find if i think of answers to specifically, then i forget the next word to the sentence and panic. And remember, that the interviewer would have been interviewed at some point in their life and will know that you are nervous.
Good luck

Hi I have just written a 30 minute micro teach on CV writing and interview tips, you're more than welcome to my p.p presentation and handouts. I'm doing the micro teach as part of a teaching qualification on Thursday and to be honest I'm dreading it so you could actually be my guinea pig! It's got all sorts in it and got ideas for most things. Just let me know and I'll send it to an email address if you want it. My dog thinks I've gone totally crazy as I stand by the computer talking to my imaginary students, with my stopwatch, even reinacting the activities and trying out the resources as per my lesson plan!
Sorry only just realised your interview at 11am tomorrow so I'm probably too late for you but if anyone else wants to look please feel free to pm me! hint hint, all advice taken before Thursday gratefully! x
