Hi,me again with probably another silly question but better to be safe than sorry!! Are there things i should be careful with around xmas with my lab puppy who will be about16-17 weeks,i think i read somewhere that poinsettas are danderous for dogs,is this right?Any other dos and donts would be appreciated.Thanks x

All members of the Euphorbias have sap that is toxic and some can cause blindness so keep that poinsettia away from the dog and any children. Other things to think about are keeping extra electrical cords from christmas trees and the like safely out of the way. No grapes/raisins (no mincemeat pies!) and no chocolate they can both be toxic. Do enjoy a walk on the field on Christmas day when you'll find you have it to yourself!

Watch out for Christmas Choccy's that are put on the tree etc, tree decs can be dangerous to chewers too (i.e. glass baubles)

Watch out that pup can't get to cooked turkey bones etc in kitchen..dispose of safely
in bin which pup can't raid etc ;)

Nuts in shells -common at Christmas and easily swallowed. Also tinsel on Chrstmas trees -we stopped having it as we always found it was being eaten and then sicked up.

Best thing about Christmas: going for dog walks on Christmas day, you get the whole world to yourself as nobody else will be out!

absolutely true re the walks, we go for a long walk to a dog friendly pub, heaven, then home to watch telly and eat.the first year we had our dog was the excuse to stop going to inlaws!!!! huge relief. "cant leave the dog, sorry".still working now 4 years on.
