I'm asking about slow cookers this time - took my slow cooker pot out the dishwasher this morning and dropped it, it's now in 5 pieces   Can anyone recommend a good one?  Thanks.

Jax :)

Isn't it possible to replace the pot?? this must happen pretty often ;)  have you tried the manufacturer or the internet??

Thanks Dill but the slow cooker belonged to my mum (I have had it now for 8 years and she had it for as long as I can remember).  It is made by Pifco  so don't think I will be able to get a replacement pot.

I buy whatever make I can get for £1 at the car boot sale!  I've bought many for friends and all work well.  I just prefer a deeper one that I can get a whole chicken in. :)

I have one that you can put on the hob too, to seal the meat etc, then transfer it to the hot plate.  Fantastic!  really easy to use, clean.  Think it is a Morphy Richards.

Dont use them, always a good heavy cooking pot with lid, and then a very low oven on timer.
Lovely at this time of year for warming kitchen too.

Sorry to hear that DAX :( you're right Pifco disappeared long ago :(

I also use a cooking pot in the oven on a low heat :)   yum!  Just had slooow cooked beef brisket along with fresh veg - it was delicious :D :D :D

Slow cookers are very ecomonical.  They only use the same electricity as an electric light bulb, much less that any cooker even on low.

Never thought of that
When at home as a girl we always had a 'Rayburn', so it was always on, I just continued my cooking habits.

I've spent ages looking for a new casserole dish or two.  I had my last ones for about 25yrs since I first set up home but now the cupboard is bare.  Although I've searched high and low, they are very hard to find so don't fancy your chances for finding a replacement.

Good luck.
