I have a spayed 12month old Jack Russell who is a little dear but unfortunately for the last couple of months has become an escape artist, she can clear my 6ft fence no trouble and doesn't stand on anything (yes she is only a small Jack Russell) she does live indoors and have plenty of walks as I also have 2 Labs. My problem is as soon as a door is open off she goes straight over the fence.  We are moving soon and the fence is only 41/2 ft but I will be moving nearer a main road.  Any suggestions.

You could try putting a top on the fence that leans inwards, you know the sort.  That might stop her, a 6' fence with a 2' inwardly sloping bit at the top, can't see her getting out of that easily.

Nothing sensible, but how about doing agility with her - sounds like she'd be a star!! :-D

had a border terrer like that & sadly he would go miles & endanger everyone and himself on the lanes:mad: He now lives wth my mum as she has a tiny garden, about 20 foot long and he cannot escape. he lives life of Riley now!!

There's no real alternative to making your garden JRT proof I'm afraid since they are persistent little beggars - mine, who normally hates water, was prepared to crawl through several cms of muddy, brambly ditchwater if that was the only way to hunt the local weasel.  Walking, unfortunately, rarely being enough for a JRT if they see a chance to hunt.

So if yours can already get over a 6ft fence you'll have to reinforce the fences when you move. Trellis can be a handy deterrent!
