I'm sure we've discussed this before but I can't find it on CD :(

I'm thinking of having a new hairstyle, but want something that doesn't take much work (or any really ;) ) to look really good.  I'm sick of looking like something the dog dragged in when I take the dogs out  :(    I have very fine hair, there's masses of it, but no root movement at all :(  add to that I seem to be alllergic to many hair products on my scalp :( :(

At the moment it's shoulder length, loose perm, and in a long 'bob' shape, but unless I scrape it back in this weather I look a mess after 2 mins in the wind and damp :( (   I also want to avoid the pimple on a mountain look so can't go too short ;)

any Ideas?   I was thinking bedhead or similar but when I typed that in Google many of the sites that came up were too old for innocent lil ole me

Have you found this site?  It's where I got my ideas from. :)

whatever you decide, if you have hopeless hair, I thoroughly recommend  GHD straighteners. I have naturally wavy frizzy hair and cheaper straighteners have never worked on it. Finally splashed out on GHd and haven't looked back. At last after 47 years, I too can look as if my hair has been groomed:cool::cool:

Straight isn't the word for my hair :( :(  the only thing it does reliably is grow very straight and shine  trouble is it's like Madonnas hair in her goth moods :( :(  - painted on :( :(

Thanks for the site Val, I hadn't seen that one :D :D  Don't know if any of them will suit me tho

My hair has changed recently and become very frustrating, had it layered and the shorter bits went all flyaway which was so annoying, I lived with grips and slides to control it

I've just gone back to gathering it from the sides at the front and making a kind of pony tail on top, (not further back as it then goes kind of flat on the top). Not sure if I've explained it very well, but it not only creates height but also keeps it all controlled, plus looks feminine (I hope).

Hth :P

Sounds like my hair, (only mine is getting some white intermingled now).
But the best styles are without doubt, the short  layered bobs.
You cant really go wrong with them, for straight and glossy locks.

Or the short unlayered bobs, which survive most weathers really well (especially if your hair is straight to start with) and don't get flattened when you have to resort to woollie hats! :D

Except I look absolutely awful with a straight bob :( :(  I'd love to have a bob but my features can't take it :( :(  I need something going on around my face to look presentable :( :(  also without any body the hair kind of 'clings' to my head EEEWWWW! :(

The white hairs are taking over here too :( :(  but even using permanent colours doesn't liven the texture up :( :(

I'm beginning to think I'd be better off with a wig :(

i would go to a few different hairdressers and see what they think would be best-you don't have to get it cut there and then, but it might give you an idea or two?  I always found it easier to say 'i want x y and z' rather than , 'i like this hair (pointing to a picture)', and if i didn't like what they were doing, i'd tell them (i use the past tense because a friend now chops it and always gets it perfect). I'm quite lucky because i have short cropped hair, so i can get away with slinging a cap on when i can't be bothered, which, given that i'm off for a week, seems to be every day so far :D! You'll find something, i'm sure.

If you know or someone can recommend a good hairdresser, they can actually be quite helpful if you tell them what you're after (short, easy to manage, to suit face shape..) without knowing EXACTLY what style you want. My hair is like yours - very fine & straight. I have a bob because it suits, but layering has always worked really well on my hair to give it more body, so might help with yours too. :)

Come to Slea, I have an excellant hairdresser that has done wonders for my hair!!!!!
I used to look as if I had been dragged through a hedge backwards. tried every hair dresser going and always scrapped it back.
My hair is double thickness of most peoples and he has done wonder with it :D
Wouldnt go to anyone else now.
Lea :)

It is shame you don't live near us as I have a lovely hairdresser called James who also happens to be my next door neighbour  :D

He is very good and is also a great conversationist and we have many good debates putting the world to rights whilst he chops away ! :D Doesn't ask if I am going out tonight etc :)

He takes a lot of time talking about how my hair has been and makes sure he changes the way he cuts if I am not happy about something :)

I think find somebody and have a good chat with them and see if they come up with anything that inspires you :)

AHH now! I think that's a BIG part of the problem :( I can't find a hairdresser I'm happy with really,  I can cut just about any hairstyle myself and always get compliments if I've cut someone's hair (or even my own  ) I've even been offered a job at a hairdressers' after they'd seen my cutting ;) I just can't find anyone who can cut a style that will last longer than the blow dry :( :( and I'm getting impatient with cutting my own as it's really difficult to do if you haven't got the head in front of you and at least 3 good large mirrors

Troll-girl's boyfriend is a Hairstylist, but I wouldn't put him under that much pressure :D - and it would be a LOT of pressure ;) ;)

I took a trawl thru the website given :D :D  I don't think I should worry really :D  this one's what I look like when I get up in the morning before I've done anything to it :D
http://tinyurl.com/y7de4y   Mind you, my hair's chestnut colour and I'm not really that slim so the effect is worse :D :D

Nope, it looks mad and I've been known to scare the postman :D :D  especially if I haven't removed my mascara the night before :D :D

Please please please couldn't I just borrow James for a bit??  Like for a lifetime :D :D
- By Dill [gb] Date 24.11.06 19:18 UTC
