Topic Other Boards / Foo / Houses with land on the boarders
- By Thompson1 [gb] Date 20.11.06 17:56 UTC
Hi guys hope someone can help.

Im looking to relocate to the boarders area of England/Sctoland.  I am looking for a house with about 2-6 acres of land however not sure were to start.  I went to the town where i could be working bit none of the agents had any property with land and non pointed me in the right direction.  I want to be within 10 miles of Berwick upon Tweed.  Im not even bothered if its a house we have to do work to I just want a house with land.

Im lost as to where to start, can any one help:confused:

Well this is my favourite property watching site if that is what you mean but if I was seriously looking in a particular area I would add all the relevent agents to my favourites and check daily.  Having said that if it is a fast moving market in the area you need to make regular personal contact with them to make sure they always think of you to send out or email details the moment something likely turns up.  At least you are looking in a realistic area for getting a bit of land without being a royal :)

I'm on the Scottish side so not so sure about property around Berwick but http://www.bspc.co.uk/ should be worth a look. Good luck!

my favourite house website as I keep an eye on what is going on because it would play the biggest part on my future plans.
www.cdproperty.co.uk and they email you suitable properties if you add yourself to their mailing list.

Another good site is www.ruralscene.co.uk ......I can sigh over houses I can't have!! - but there do seem to be some good ones there.

You could start with this property search site. These people are pretty well known up here (Northumberland area) but they might be more south of Berwick. I would just start phoning local agents and tell them what you are looking for.

Not sure if this will be of any help, but it's one of my favourites.

try all the equestrian agencies too such as www.ruralandequestrian.co.uk - that's how we found our place (in Lincs though ;) )

Oh dear - I just looked at that www.ruralscene.co.uk - now I've decided I'm moving to Lincolnshire and buying a business - kennels, cattery, pet supplies all in one - ho hum!  Thats todays dreaming over while I sit in front of this computer like I have done for the last far too many years......

Good luck with what you are after

The best bargains seem to be in the Hebrides :)  Look at this, you can live in a chalet in a barn with all your dogs around you for 120K :D

Thats really quite bizarre isn't it Isabel, mind you if I lived up there I'd probably want my house in a barn too :)

S-S-J is where my gsp's breeder used to live. I have fond memories of driving through the fens in the dark (it was December) going to collect him, and I'll always love the fens for that reason. :)

I've looked at rural scenes again - and I still want to come and live in Lincolnshire - trying to convince OH to let me give up work and move to Lincolnshire with the dog and the kids.  Told him he can rent in London Monday to Friday and come to Lincolnshire at weekends - he doesnt seem keen on that idea - I cant understand why!!!!

My OH works in London ( when he's in the country ) and commutes from Downham Market - the fast link from Peterborough is only 50 minutes and plenty of people do commute.

I'm lucky as the school I teach at is only in Wisbech about 20 min drive away.
