Hi

Is everyone prepared for Xmas? Done all your Xmas shopping?

Does anyone know where I can get some good toys for my dog for Xmas? As im sure you can appreciate he has numerous toys frizbees/tuggy toys/kongs etc but I would like to get him something a bit different like one of these bubble machines or a mini flyball machine. I know that you can get them as I have seen them on TV but im not sure where.

What will you be giving your pooches this festive season? :D

Asda do some great gifts for us animal lovers and for great prices. In their photo shop you can get all of the canvases and photo albums but they also print pictures (any pictures, not just animals) onto place mats, coasters and mugs. The thing I liked best was they can make wrapping paper from your fave photos. A bit of a waste of money, I know, as its going to go in the bin but a good idea and good fun!

Thanks
Caroline

Fraid that we don't buy our dogs anything, apart from a couple of packs of treats :) :) Dogs don't mind - they don't know it's Xmas :D :D

Daisy

Are you sure they dont know? Mine is sitting here going through the Argos catalogue making out his Xmas list :D :D :D

Amber has apparently been going through ALL the catalogues (Toysrus, Argos, Early Learning, Boots, Woolworths etc) making out her Christmas wish list......Kealie totalled it all up to over £1,700:eek::rolleyes:

When it was pointed out that she would be lucky to get a couple of things on the list, she became quite exasperated....."KNOW, I KNOW ....but Father Christmas might not have the catalogues and I thought I'd make it easier if I told him where he could buy ANY of the things I'd like.....but I can't find a catalogue with a Pony in it "

Well, I've made a start on the shopping - got my mum and dad's presents. Mum has got a new bed throw, pillowcases and cusions that she's been eyeing up in Dunelm every time we go in and Dad's got an electric lawn aerator, the latest Andy Mcnabb book and a jumper (for a change). We have made a good start on our two boys presents but still have quite a lot to buy for them. Husband and I don't really bother buying much for each other, maybe a bottle of perfume/aftershave and thats it - we get our enjoyment from watching the children open their gifts. I have buying christmas food goodies every week with my normal shopping which helps. Harvey will have a few toys from Pets at home, I'll spend around £20 on him.

Not done any shopping yet but booked pantomime tickets for the 23rd and have booked dinner at a hotel this year for the first time in 20 years :).   My dogs have all been atheists, well perhaps Nellie went so far as to be an agnostic being a bit more of a thinker than the cockers, so they are happy to just bag any extra nibbles that they can and leave the present exchanging to us believers :)
- By LJS Date 19.11.06 18:52 UTC
Anywhere nice Isabel ? I do think Christmas dinner out is a lovely thing to do :)

We are having a quiet time at home just us and no Rellies

Not sure though what we are going to have for lunch/dinner ? Goose maybe but might have a lovely Rib of Beef :)

Food is the only thing I actually get excited about Christmas :D
- By Isabel Date 19.11.06 19:04 UTC
Yes, nice country house hotel in Keswick.  I am expecting it to be nice but I don't think it is ever as nice as the way you do it yourself but I am trying to escape the old Christmas routine trap  :)  I usually do a goose and I think I will miss that and the buckets of goose fat we collect for the next 3 months :D  Yea, I love the foodie side of it ;)
- By LJS Date 19.11.06 19:08 UTC
Ooh Isabel anymore room for two adults, one little rugrat and two chocolate Labs ? :D

I am sure you will have a super time

We want to get a log cabin one year in the middle of nowhere and hide for a week

So long as we have lots of lovely walks, a big open fire,a fridge stacked full of scrummy food and a wine rack full of wine we will be happy  :D

Do you use the goose fat to do your roasties then ?

Yes, I use it on chickens and potatoes.  There is nothing to compare :)  When my own stuff runs out I buy tins.  Stored in the fridge it keeps about 3 months.

i had a bubble machine like off 'its me of the dog', but i found this cheap £6 one from Tesco much better. I got one of thos bubble guns too, but Bu spent half the time trying to attack the gun! I found this one though.

i'm planning on getting my two a drinkwell water fountain this year. I might change my mind though. There'll be the usual treats and toys. I have another 6 dogs (friends and family's) to buy for so it costs me a fortune!

as for christmas presents, i'm nearly done. Bought another lot today, and i'm going to Ikea on Wednesday, so i'll probably end up going to Metro and spend more money.....

Try this site <a class='url' href='http://www.fetchpet.co.uk/bubble-fun-c-26.html?osCsid=418d0458dcf9b9e2372d77103db8ea13'>http://www.fetchpet.co.uk/bubble-fun-c-26.html?osCsid=418d0458dcf9b9e2372d77103db8ea13</a>

I have got my two a Chuckit player each and a whole load more, my daughter is worse than me and when we go shopping she just keeps picking up more rope toys and christmas squeakies.

I think mine are spoilt and not just by me.
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 19.11.06 19:20 UTC
Should get all but the stocking bits done by next Saturday :D :D
- By Dogz Date 19.11.06 20:06 UTC
Blimey you lot are organised....
I have  very little, but as 2 of my children have December birthdays and our wedding anniversary is on the 17th, I tend to put most of it off so I can 'enjoy' a frantic Christmas shopping frenzy. To me it is all part of the fun of it all.
I do have the cake made and will do cards in time, but thats it!

Mine will be getting a bubble machine.
Then all the normal teddies, treats, squeaky toys, tuggers, balls, kongs etc.

With 7 it costs a fortune but then I don't have kids.
- By munrogirl76 Date 19.11.06 21:21 UTC
Ordered everything from charity catalogues, as I hate shopping. As long as all that arrives OK, I've got 3 people and the dogs left to buy for. I'm working up to digging the tree and decorations out of the cupboard under the stairs, aka Death Trap! :D I got one of those bubble machines - and have to say I'm not v impressed with it, I reckon a bubble gun would probably be better. I got it off the Internet, but can't remember which company it was now. Try searching for Puddle Pet Care, Company of Animals, Things for Pets, Pet Company and see if any of them have it (you can tell I spend too much time on the Net buying stuff for my dogs... Champdogs is great, it's saving me loads of money ;) )

My dogs best Xmas present ever will be the giblets - yum yum
- By SharonM Date 20.11.06 09:38 UTC
I'm finished, all my gifts are wrapped too, just the cards to write out, probably do that today!  Our eldest will be 18 on the 18/12, but she'll be in New York with College, she gets back on 21st, so we will probably have a party for her at home.
- By zarah Date 20.11.06 12:36 UTC
Oh those dogs in the puppy purses! lol. Wonder if I can squeeze my Dobe in one  :P
- By LucyD [gb] Date 20.11.06 13:33 UTC

We've got two birthdays first and I refuse to acknowledge Christmas until the month it falls in. Actually, in practice this means the week it falls in! All the presents will be bought a couple of days before Christmas and the decorations (this house is a tinsel-free zone too) won't be going up till Christmas Eve. That way, it actually feels like Christmas when it is Christmas!

Of dog presents, it's giblets. Without a bow on them.
- By earl [fr] Date 21.11.06 09:12 UTC
I've just bought Roxy a bubble gun from eBay (£11 including postage buy it now) to add to everything else!

Has anyone got one of these?  Do the dogs love it?  I'll be so disappointed if she's not the least bit interested!
- By morgan [gb] Date 21.11.06 10:59 UTC
i also ignore christmas till december, and wont answer questions as to what i want from parents untill then, bah humbug. never cooked a christmas dinner in my life but thinking of doing it this year so the dog can enjoy the turkey.....id rather have a curry.........
- By ice_queen Date 21.11.06 11:18 UTC
I brought a bubble gun from PAH and tbh it wasn't that great, dogs wern't interested, bubbles were perfetic even tho they were bacon falvoured.

Ahwell only cost me £8
- By earl [fr] Date 21.11.06 11:23 UTC
Um, that wasn't the response I was looking for really!

Did the gun you have take batteries?  Clutching at straws in a big way here!
- By ice_queen Date 21.11.06 11:32 UTC
Sorry.  No mine didn't have batteries but I think the ones with would be much better tbh, the blow will be made smoother to get  the bubbles out.
- By earl [fr] Date 21.11.06 11:40 UTC
Thank you Rox, that was the right answer!  :D  Did I lead you to that a bit?  The one I've ordered has batteries.  I have a premonition that on Christmas day that everyone else will be more interested than the dog, but isn't that always the way.  She'll be too busy trying to grab the bows and stray bits of wrapping paper.
- By JuneH [in] Date 23.11.06 20:53 UTC
I found last christmas that my then puppy was just like my then kids - prefer the wrapping and the box to the present!
- By Fluff76 [gb] Date 28.11.06 12:26 UTC
Since I don't have children and Roxy is (unashamedly) my substitute child I'm thinking about getting her a nice new collar - I'm currently looking for a Up Country one, a new bowl and she needs a bed. She's currently got blankets in her crate, and since she no longer needs her crate we want to get her nice new bed.

It's all stuff that she needs really, but we've been putting off buying them until now.....
- By Paula20380 [gb] Date 28.11.06 12:31 UTC
I am not even thinking about Christmas until at least the 1st December!!!!
- By rachelsetters Date 28.11.06 12:58 UTC
DITTO! :)
- By Fluff76 [gb] Date 28.11.06 14:15 UTC
I'd like to not think about it before then, but we need to save money prior to december so we can buy everyones gifts....
- By jennyb59 [gb] Date 28.11.06 18:08 UTC
I have to have all my hubbys side of the family, presents and cards done by this Sunday 3rd as its the family pre-Christmas gathering  I have no idea what to get MIL who is now wheelchair bound and unable to do much by herself after having a series of strokes earlier in the year, as for him indoors hes a nightmare to buy for unless its a model railway engine, !!!!!!
